Is there a brand of bicycle that is so "uncool" to you, that you don't consider them?

The Cannondale CAADX 105 looks like a good CX bike for a decent price.

I'll never own a Specialized bike since I read about them trying to make that bike cafe in Canada stop using the word Roubaix in their name. Yeah? Ok, I own the word 'butter'.

The funny thing with me and Trek...when I was younger Treks were the bikes that I couldn't afford so I always aspired to own one. I got a Trek hybrid in 2003, and two Lemond/Trek roads bikes in 2004 and 2010. I really liked the bikes and the style of the Lemond/Trek were pretty cool and understated. All those bikes are gone now. For whatever reason I can't get excited about Trek anymore.

Perhaps I used the wrong legal term. The point is that a company can still advertise that they sell and install windows, as in double-hung thermal, or bay windows. Companies protect their trademarks vigorously and sometimes get over zealous. That's not a very good reason not to buy a company's products, IMHO.

I have had 2 new bikes in my life. The first was a Rollfast when I was eleven (my parents placed the order at my uncle's store while CBS News was reporting the Cuban missile crisis), and the second was a Fuji S-10-S in 1971 or 72. Since then, every bike has been used or found as trash.
I have had Peugoet, Motobecane, Raleigh, Gitane, Schwinn, Sears, Univega, Nishiki, Diamond Back, Trek, Huffy, Western Auto, and Executive among others. Some I have sold, some I have donated to charity or friends.
I've hardly found a bike that could not be repaired to be a decent (maybe not pretty) means of transport for someone.
So I haven't found a bike I didn't like.

With some miles on my Lynskey - my impressions
When you get yours and have a chance to ride it several times let us know what you think. Don't forget if you want to make any changes to anything do it before they send it, they should be able to do swaps now, back when I got mine Lynskey wouldn't so they had to send the bike to Adrenalin Bikes, but now things are different at Lynskey.
Although I still love my Roubaix for real long rides, the Lynskey has become my daily rider. I've barely ridden my Klein this year. Off the top of my head, I've ridden it twice and put about 25 miles on it this year. It may go up for sale. I've got a buyer for my hardtail Attitude and will be parting with it. I haven't ridden it since last summer. Like I said, I love the Lynskey. Beautiful bike and wonderful, super skilled workmanship in the frame. Couldn't ask for more.

There's something really cool about riding a not-cool bike and dropping everyone:-)

The Trek hate is funny to watch. It reminds me of all the butthurt Hair Bands in the early 90's when Nirvana, AIC, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam destroyed their business prospects.

Seeking validation through purchasing consumer products, or "dropping" others. uncool.

A certain amount of that is justified though, especially by those of us that loved what Trek was all about in the beginning. Now all the good Treks are at least 20 years old and the new ones are hardly anything special. It's probably more about a prestige brand selling out and becoming just another Giant/Specialized/Cannondale.

I believe some of the unjustified hate for Trek stems from the "embodiment of evil" in cycling.... Lance Armstrong.

no offense intended, but I vote for Motobecane
Also, not a Trek hater (admire them quite a bit), but nearly everyone around here rides them which is a disqualifier for me. I need some uniqueness in my cycling life, hence my Storck.
