Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Holograms...

"Power Balance is based on the idea of optimizing the body’s natural energy flow, similar to concepts behind many Eastern philosophies. The hologram in Power Balance is designed to resonate with and respond to the natural energy field of the body."

Substitute "Power balance" with SSFG riding. Blammo.

I don't need a "philosophical explanation". I just enjoy cycling.

It's the most efficient method of transportation, what more philosophy do you need?

Ferrara has found a similar restorative power in physical activity that involves a rhythmic, left-right-left-right action, which may physically mimic EMDR. Soldiers diagnosed with PTSD have widely found that vigorous repetitive-motion exercise such as ice skating and rollerblading can be extremely helpful in keeping the disorder's symptoms at bay.
- Outside mag, philophsizing. EMDR = eye movement desensitization and reprocessing

Oh yeah, and the one on the right kills more people than terrorists.

Also independence, flexibility, mobility.

I'm not one of those high and might cyclists, but there is a quote out there about how the bicycle is the perfect machine and and nothing since has imporved on it. Anyone know what I am talking about? Really vague, I know...

This?

When man invented the bicycle he reached the peak of his attainments. Here was a machine of precision and balance for the convenience of man. And (unlike subsequent inventions for man's convenience) the more he used it, the fitter his body became. Here, for once, was a product of man's brain that was entirely beneficial to those who used it, and of no harm or irritation to others. Progress should have stopped when man invented the bicycle. ~Elizabeth West, Hovel in the Hills
