Thinking of doing the unthinkable - getting rid of a 1 month old CAAD 10
I have ridden this CAAD 10 on the trainer for a few hours and on the road for about 80 miles and have noticed an issue. Curious if anyone else has this problem.
My thigh hits the cable and cable stop on the top tube. (I might have noticed this if I had taken a long test ride or something, but the opportunity wasn't there.) I've never had this issue on any other bike. It looks as though the cable stop (if that is the correct phrase) is further out to the side than on other bikes I have had. Has anyone else noticed this? I find it very annoying. I noticed it because my thigh seemed to be making impact with the top tube at the top of the pedal stroke, and upon further review, it is hitting the cable stop and occasionally the cable itself. I just can't past it.
Has anyone else encountered this issue?
When I bought the bike the salesman told me that if I didn't like it I could just bring it back and he would give me a refund. I am going down that route now. If they don't, I will probably be putting it up for sale here, on E-bay or on CL.

Sounds like a fit issue. Change the saddle, saddle height, crank arm length, etc. That should never be an issue.

That sounds very odd. I would try playing around with your fit. You don't want to F up a good fit, but I'm thinking something sounds a bit off.
One thought is increase your Q factor (the width between your feet) This is as easy as sliding your cleats inward on your shoes. This should make youe knees track wider.
Another thought is to look at the fore aft position of your saddle. Perhaps you need to be further back? Also look and see if you seat height is correct.

Take it to the dealer and compare it's position to other CAAD10 frames. Maybe you have one that has that boss out of position?

I think your Q factor solution might work, but why would I be interested in increasing the Q factor when the goal is generally to reduce it? Moreover, it's not like I need this bike. I bought it for a spare and there is no real reason to F with a good thing in order to get past this.
All in all I really like the bike, but this bugs me.
Maybe I should post a question about this on the Cult thread to see if anyone else has the issue...

Assuming this isn't about April 1, I don't see an issue with the bike. I also have the CAAD10. If you look straight down at the top tube, you can't see the wire. This means that if you are touching the wire during pedaling, you must be rubbing off or hitting the top tube. Wire or no wire, that doesn't make sense. Try adjusting your cleats. There are also rubber O-rings on the wire to keep it away from the frame. It could be that you're touching these, in which case I would move them away from where your leg is closest to the frame.
PS: You could also test ride a couple of other CAAD10s (same size and adjustments) to make sure that you don't have a weld problem with your bike.

I'm starting to think this may be an issue with just this one frame.

If it's a 58, send it to me.
But seriously, what you're describing sounds like a fit issue. My knees dive in slightly when my shoes are not set up properly. With 2 shims and eSoles are added, my knees track up and down properly. I'd suggest looking for a good bike fit specialist in your area and make sure they do your feet as well.
Send the CAAD to me.

It's a 56, but for the right price, I'll send it to anyone who wants it.

And Q factor can be too narrow. They were developing a narrow bike for Lance Armstrong, that was going to be "the s**t that kills." But it turned out with the narrower Q factor he produced less power and that was the end of that project.

I don't know of any goal to reduce Q factor. The goal should be to get a fit that works for you. If your setup is causing your knee to track into the Top tube, something's not working.

How about some pictures so we can see the offending stop and its position from the above the top tube?

Can you post any pics of the issue? No one should be unhappy with a bf approved caad.

Just FYI, I had this exact same problem when I test rode a Caad10. I figured it was just because I didn't have shoes/clipless pedals on. My knees have always barely touched the top tube on my old bike, so it wouldn't surprise me if they did on the Caad as well. Glad I didn't get that bike, that would have been annoying!

When you look down the top tube, do you see the cable stop sticking out? Mine may have been put on wrong because I can see the cable stop and a decent bit of the cable itself. I had been hitting the o-ring, but moved that out of the way. As for the top tube, my legs get pretty close to it while I pedal.
I'm starting to think this may be an issue with just this one frame.

Test riding other CAAD10s could be the easiest way to find out if there are any problems with the bike.

If it's the Rival model and you're gonna be in DC anytime soon, I'll trade you my 2010 CAAD9 for it. The top tube is a good bit narrower.

Hmmm. did Cannondale have a bad batch of bikes, or is this some sort of April fools joke? Very similar thread on the clyde forum yesterday. I still can't see how someone could have this problem, unless they have a really odd setup or some sort of knee problem.
