I just noted this current thread on the Recumbent Forum (which I never read): Bents in heavy traffic.”

Mrs. Grouch and I are now both tadpole trike riders. No more balance issues, no need to unclip at intersections, no discomfort issues. One does sit rather close to the ground so we don't like to ride ride in heavy traffic. Our most typical ride is a two mile coast on a not too busy road down to the Katy Trail, 5 1/2 miles into St Charles for breakfast, and return. The last 2 miles are uphill.

I got rid of the last of our DF bikes last year. We both plan to continue riding our trikes for as long as we're able.

Did anyone else notice that posts #s 51 to 75 seem to have disappeared from this thread?

I saw this just a couple of days ago! Talk about a lucky mishap!

Dude gets taken out by a semi making a right turn, falls down and happens to roll between both sets of tires while the trail rolls over him!

Nope, they are right where they should be following post 50 and preceding 76. Take another look.

Thanks for the reply.

Now they are, in proper numerical order, but I'm sure they did disappear (? alien abduction...? a "close encounter"...cue Rod Serling...One Step Beyond ).

Quick...Look...Now they're gone again.

Addendum: Here is a screen shot including the tail end of post #50 immediately followed by post #76 .

Regardless if it's a large truck or a "Smart car", I take the lane and get directly behind the vehicle that is turning. I do this to ensure I stay out of their blind side and it also makes it easier for the driver to see me in their rear view mirror; if it's a semi truck I ensure they see me as I'm getting behind them.

I use this same tactic when stopped at a light/stop sign, I take the lane, just like all the other vehicles.

I see there are more than a couple of videos of similar accidents following that video. I don't like to say this, but can't help after watching: some seem to be candidates for Darwin award.
