Scratch

Broke crank arm and it scratched off some paint on chainstay. Carbon looks fine

shoukd I do anything to protect the carbon especially since on bottom of chainstay near ground where can pick up road debris

Photos might help. I suppose stranger things can happen. Still it’s hard to believe that you managed to break a crank arm without doing damage to a carbon frame. I’d be careful. You might want to get a professional opinion from a reliable mechanic.
