I am thinking of purchasing a road bike in this price range and want to know what you would get. Reccomend somthing and ill have a look at it.
Update: I do not want electric shifting and It will be custom, i will get the frame, then group, then wheels

Bike ≠ Car ≠ Ped.
Cannondale Evo, BMC Impec or Team Machine, Specialized Venge, some Seven or Lynskey thing, uh...
Whatever else I like looking at but can't afford now.

Forget this guy. ^^^ I'll sell you a great 2008 Bianchi Valle with drop bars, dynohub, genuine German lighting, and rack with slide-on basket, trunk bag, and Ortleib panniers for $9800. More features, BETTER DEAL.

Well...that sounds good because it will leave some left over money for maybe a decent set of aero-bars for his next group ride....

If I were renting (buying to upgrade later on...),
a 2012 Cannondale Supersix EVO Red w/Enve 6.7
wheels, Fizik/3T Cockpit & Dura Ace 9000 Pedals.
That, or a 2012 Cannondale Supersix Ultimate on sale.
If it were going to be a keeper, probably a blood red
Tomassini with chrome lugs and full vintage Campy.

I'm sorry and believe me I love riding. But there is no way I could ever justify spending that much on a bike. If you've got it flaunt it I suppose.

Without starting a debate on financial responsibility, I'd like to say that some people would rather have a $20k car and a $10k bike than just a $30k car. If it brings someone pride and joy and motivates them to ride more, there's nothing wrong with spending that kind of $ on a bike. People spend a lot more on silly things that don't benefit their health whatsoever. Hell, some people can blow $10k on beer and pot in a year. It's all about what you value and what you want to spend your money on.

A steel custom made frame with an aweome paint job by one of the top builders in the country and equip it with Record or Dura Ace components. A nice set of wheels made to order.
I'd then put the rest of the cash in the bank to buy beer as needed.

I'd keep the bikes I have and spend a month or two in France and Italy riding the tires off my Look. From personal experience, June is a great time of year to be over there.
