What's your real job?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I thought I read -- long ago, during your other persona -- that you are a high-school gym teacher.

CNC Machinist/Programer for Stryker, to pay the bills. Also sell a few flies here and there, but that's to feed the addiction.

I'm pondering a move out west next August. My specialty is Immunohematolgy (Transfusion med), but sub in Hematology as well. I can work as a generalist, but its just not as interesting, nor fun.

I've had two very different careers. Upon graduation, I worked as a mechanical engineer for Michelin for nine years. When Michelin moved my group to Greenville, SC, I decided that even though George Hincappie lives there I'd rather not, so I punted engineering and became a trans-atlantic flight attendent for US Airways (big change!). My job consisted of flying to Paris five times each month (damn, I miss my job!). Nine/eleven happened, the airlines took it in the a$$, and I got furloughed (union-speak for layed off). Engineering jobs are a bit hard to find at present (unless I'd be willing to leave Charlotte) so I'm currently teaching chemistry and physics labs at a local community college.

whew... let's see:

day: art director at the same agency 55/rad works for, though i'm in the interactive side and we almost never work together.

night: college prof at large state school teaching graphic design. lately i've been teaching flash to my design majors, or, rather, comp sci 101 for artists. good fun!

in my past life, i was a pro dj and toured quite extensively for a few years. if you lived in the midwest in the early nineties and liked the underground party scene, you probably heard me spin. i even got to play in florence, italy for a time.
