Here's my (I'm guessing 1999 based on rgreener's post) Karakoram converted to a longtail cargo bike.

what's the wheelbase on that ride? Curious how it compares to the trek transport. I was working at a trade show in salt lake when those longtail attachments first came out. Have to admit I kind of laughed at it then but have since opened up on different kinds of bikes and riding. That was also a very long time ago!

I'd have to go measure it to compare to the Trek Transport. It's roughly 13 inches longer than the bike's normal wheelbase using the FreeRadical. Originally this FreeRad was on my older Schwinn hybrid, which my son now has. I used to have an early 90's Karakorum with the Purple Haze paint job and I rode that bike everywhere. It was destroyed in a storage unit fire and I never could fina another to replace it. I found this Karakorum on the local CL a few years back and figured it was as close to my first one as I was ever going to get.

Ad with no pictures - $15 later I have to figure this one out. As I got it after stopping at a DIY car wash to spray off a million spider webs. One of those that you don't want, but would be stupid to leave behind

Yes, that is the Origin8 adapter. I want to keep the fork stock. CF would be nice but I have a thing with keeping the frame/fork pretty original. Right now I am contemplating having the frame polished to a high-shine and the fork chromed. It would then match the DA 7700 3x10 group and also the wheels. Would be a lot of bling!

I can understand that. I have the original fork as well with the CF one being 1” threaded as well I can change back anytime. I did change the OEM Black steel HS to a nice Tange aluminium one. Trying to find time to put it back together for some fall riding.

Not a stunner for sure, but I'm pretty damn happy with my build strictly from the parts bin.

Yep, Giant Excursion used the same configuration on a production bike in the '90s. Sanyo BB generator.

Hey what kind of rigid fork did you swap out with ? I was leaning toward a 440 Soma but it costs 4 times what i bought the GT for. Its a blue Pantera "All Terra" 7005 Aluminum. I bought a GT Timberline just to use as a donor but its too nice to destroy. Apologies I can't post photos yet since I don't have 10 posts or something.

The 2nd GT frame I've modified as a 'daily driver' commuter, this was more or less a complete bike that has purple paint underneath the PO-applied gray spray job. It came with nearly all Shimano LX group and a seized RockShox (Judy?) which led me to think it's a Karakoram, but what sez you-all?
(The rigid fork was never-mounted NOS bout at a swap-meet in El Sobrante.)
This is going to a co-worker someday soon...

Well it's a triple-triangle so I like it fundamentally. It looks comfortable.
