These shows are all "fiction"... unless one is doing reality TV, and then it may still not be reality.

However, I have to wonder if many of the dysfunctional mothers are part of dysfunctional families. So, in Married with Children, it is not just one person that is dysfunctional, but the whole fictional family unit.
