Similar ride as yesterday but with some intervals
https://connect.garmin.com/activity/30058203
Edit: Interesting that most of the sprints got smoothed over on the power graph but you can see the HR spikes.

https://veloroutes.org now uses Google's elevation data source instead of the USGS data, fwiw.

Quick ride this morning with fellow BF member. An added plus was that we were running late and had to push the pace more than usual.

That's impressive.
Do all crits run clockwise?

Almost all of the crits I have done run clockwise, but I can think of at least one that runs counter.
This was just a practice crit, not a real race, and we were on open roads, so it had to run clockwise.
Also that meant that it was all categories mixed together, and it included about 15 minutes of warmup which you can probably see in the data.

Yesterday's ride for me. The day before I felt fantastic on basically the same route but this ride was awful. I just had no energy and no legs. Did a bike/run brick for my tri training the day before but that shouldn't have taken that much out of me. Just amazes me how different I can feel on the bike from one day to the next. Oh well, I think today is a rest day or swim day and then back on the bike Saturday morning. Worried I'm going to burn myself out if I'm not careful.

Enjoying the vids umd. Are you using the VoldR ContourHD helmet cam? Once I finally get all my stuff for my tri, that is up there on my list of stuff to buy. I've mounted a camera on my handlebars but it just vibrated too much and the quality wasn't that great. Oh well, keep em coming.

awesome video, you're a beast. It also shows exactly what you were saying earlier about heart rate. You were at about 185 BPM in lap 25 and said your heart rate was through the roof. When my heart rate is at 185, I consider that an easy lap and I'm recovering for my next effort. Sometimes I feel bad for my heart, I hope it doesn't explode on me one day. What is your resting heart rate?

yeah, through the roof for me is anywhere in the mid to upper 190's. Maxed out last year at 210bpm but have barely cracked 200 so far this year. Not sure if I've really lost 10bpm off my max over the winter or if my body is still just adjusting to these hard efforts and the 10 beats will come back as the season goes on and the heat goes up. 185 would be a moderately hard lap for me...and a much slower lap than umd's for sure.

If I am well rested, my resting HR is high 30s to low 40s. My max, the highest I have ever seen on a ride is 192. I rarely get close to or over 190 and that doesn't last for long, but if I am sufficiently motivated and rested, I have held mid-180s for 10-15 minutes.
For example, this was a time trial I did for a stage race in February

Anyway, here is today's ride. It was a group ride around Lake Casitas. There is a climb (two actually) to Casitas Pass, and a lot of people turn aruond and head home from the top. A small group of us continued around.

Today's solo up and back on the SART in SoCal. Gradual downhill with a moderate tailwind during the first half of the ride. Gradual uphill into headwind on the way back.

Well,
As it was Salt Lakes Marathon day today & I was not running this year, thought I would try one of the local bike marathons - 5 canyons challenge. failed miserably! Stopped for too long at mile 50 to pick up next weeks race package & felt like poop from there on out. I'll give it a shot again in a couple of weeks.
