Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

$5 dollar bike stand

I made this stand to work on my bike. Built with a $5 dollar clamp and a old satellite dish mount attached to my tool box. I can rotate the arm up 90 degrees when not in use.

Have you tried it with a bike? I can see that thing tilting over as it looks unstable way at the edge like that...but then again maybe the tool cabinet is heavy enough.

I love how it's posed in front of the white garage door.

I've been going around-the-horn thinking of stands myself. After a year of using a wood 2x4 version, I got a PCS-10 last night.

I see that you are going to squeeze your horizontal tube... careful you don't crush/dent it. I ain't touchin' my aluminum with mine.

Oh and wish I had a welder at home!

flip it. seriously though, it would be better if it grabbed your seatpost instead of your top tube.

i made something similar for my basement shop. good work.

Steel is real!

Nice job.

And extra BF bonus points for the white garage door, as noted above.

You don't want to clamp the top tube.

you don't have to clamp the top tube hard... just lightly to steady the bike resting on the grooved 2x4.

OK
But you still should never clamp the TT, always the seatpost.

Anybody have thought in one that holds the bike from the BB the rear dropouts and the fork dropouts?

Regarding 'only clamp the seatpost' - what about if your seatpost is carbon fiber?

Thanks for the compliments. I don't clamp the top tube hard, just enough to provide lateral stability. You don't need a tool box either, you could bolt it to a bench or vertical wall/support.

The people at the LBs always swap it fir an Aluminum one. In the case of a BMC with T shaped TT and aero seat tube u have not many ways to use clamps at all.
