Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Got my shipping confirmation today.

I was going to go with the Charge Bucket anyways, then this showed up on Prolly's site. I figured "Why not?" and ordered one.

Long time SS, first time fixed. Putting 'em on a Raleigh Record frame that needs some loving. Tell me the truth, guys. Do these wheels suck?

Those are very affordable wheels that don't suck. Just get them properly tensioned when they arrive.

Formulas are literally bombproof with proper care and:
Also, if it doesn't come with a lockring/ if it comes with a formula lockring; replace it along the way ASAP when you're installing a cog with a dura ace lockring and you won't regret doing not so.

They will probably need to be tensioned again after about a month or 30 miles (depending on which comes first)

Ha. So I should tension 'em after two riding days. Gotcha.

Leuky, I can't tell if that sentence was inverted, insane or a typo. Truth be told, I'm sure I'll be doing mostly single speed, but I'll keep in mind that this lockring's not made of adamantium.

Thanks, guys. Good to get some reassurance as I was having a bit of buyer's remorse. Seems like too good a deal.

Ordered them through my local shop today. Supposed to come in on Thurs. Can't wait!

edit- Also got new tires for the road bike, so I don't have to shuffle tires between bikes anymore. Got some Forte whatevers for $20 each. It was like half price.

While in the big city today working in my to-do list, I picked these up a a sporting goods store:

Yes, they are golf gloves and they do not match, but they fit great and I just had to try full-finger leather gloves with the track grips. If they work well enough, I will find a matching pair online somewhere.

Crank set, stem and "Stash" handlebar from Section 8. So far I'm really impressed with the quality of their parts.
