Little Update
After a few failed attempts and weeks of deep creep squirts I’ve finally gotten the seat post out. Seriously was on the verge of cutting and drilling. Today was was a good day

So, being a sucker to pick up pretty much any brand bike that I don't have. I grabbed this Urago. No model name anywhere and I haven't been able to date it just yet. From research I have found that Urago did make some high end bikes and nice frames. This one looks to be part of the transition into the bike boom years. Nothing super fancy, but it looks to have been just parked in a basement or garage for a long time. Bars are well wrapped and the small detail of putting some bar wrap around the frame where the Pletcher rack mounts. Any more info would be appreciated. Suntour GT rd, Spirt fd and Suntour shifters are pretty cool. $2 worth I guess.

Literally saved from the dump!
The cheap fixie will be a nice project for my 13yr old. The Cimmeron will get a nice restoration but wish it was one size bigger. The other two will become city cruisers.

please make a thread on the cycle whenever you begin work on it
looks to hail from about the 1974-1975 time
you may be able to read a date marking inside a small diamond symbol on the cycle's RIGIDA SUPERCHROMIX wheel rims as here -

1990 Schwinn Crosscut Resto-Mod
I recently re-homed a lovable vintage drop-bar conversion, and I found I needed another one to fill the hole in my heart.
In my original post I noted that the components on this Crosscut were in good shape when I found it, and that I hoped to salvage the paint job. Unfortunately, that last part didn’t pan out as rust from the chrome headset and seat post clamp had bubbled nearby paint. Repainting was easier than all the work it would have taken to try to repair the existing finish. But as I’d hoped, I was able to restore and keep most of the components.
Besides the virtues others have noted about these bikes, such as the long wheelbase, relaxed geometry, and space for larger tires, there are other things I’ve found interesting: Although the brakes are cantilever, they are actuated with bridge cables and yokes like center-pull calipers. So far I’m impressed with their stopping power. It also has Shimano’s Biopace oval-ish chainrings. And the model name for the Shimano group set is Exage which I haven’t come across before and, according to their website, is “coined from excellent, exceed and age.” Okay then.
I don’t have a lot of time logged on it yet, but I'm liking how it rides. I haven’t been able to directly recognize a difference with the Biopace chainrings, but Sheldon Brown has said my knees will thank me later.

Too new to post photos but I picked up a project...I am pretty sure it is a Raleigh International, 22 1/2" C-T with a 22" C-C top tube.
According to Retro Raleigh or Kurt....the year code G is '72. It has been spread to 135mm in the rear but appears to be in fair condition.
Anyone have more information about Raleigh lightweights?
In particular I'm trying to understand the color scheme which does not appear to be correct. Blue with Red head tube. I cannot see evidence of any other colors.

Thanks for letting me know! I haven’t had many rides on it yet but I am also impressed with this LX set. The derailleurs didn’t care a whit that I went from a 7 to an 8-speed cassette or that I’m using new MicroShift brifters. Everything was easy to set up and works well. I’ve spent considerable time on other resto-mods getting the front derailleur dialed in, but not this one. I just made sure it was in line with the rings, and that it cleared the bulge on the big ring, and it did the rest. And the brakes continue to impress me. I saved the original cassette, flat bar, stem, shifters, and brake levers in case I ever want to get the band back together.

When it rains ...
A Miyata 215 ST popped up locally for not much. It took a couple days to track the guy down, so I stopped by to take a look. I decided to pass and the price dropped. I hesitated a beat, and he said "I'll throw in another bike", so I said I'd take a look. And out came the Gitane Hostler. I cracked. He saw the weakness. And then he did that Jedi voice thing "And you'll take these other two as well".....
The Miyata and Gitane are both too small for me.
The parts on the Miyata are clean, but kind of surplus to my needs, so that might travel on as a complete bike.
The Gitane has a lot of French Funk going on. I think the crank, Mafac cantilevers and some other bits are going on the 650b Manufrance frame I swapped a bike for a while back.
I don't remember what month is "sthow your purple bike", but if some one wants to get a jump on that.....

I got this one for $50. It's an early 60's JC Higgins (Puch or the like). I was sold on the chain guard. Works with a Simplex derailleur. It also has an internally routed rear brake cable on the opposite side. The ride isn't half bad either.
