My contribution: A Surly Pacer frame with a mix of road and MTB components.
Atlanta riders, take note--my favorite thing about this bike is the gearing (a 39 tooth chainring up front with a 9 speed 11-34 MTB cassette in the back). It's perfect for relaxed-pace riding on the hills around here.

I built the "Hipster wannabe" as its replacement. Frame is a 88Giant built 4130 investment cast drop Schwinn Worldsport. The rest of the bike parts are off a 950 Trek mountain except for the wheels. Those are 700c Araya red labels off a old Nashbar road bike with the 950s 14/32 7 speed Suntour freehub. Suntour Acushi(f)t (NOT!) thumb shifters. Rides decent when the shifters decide to work. They show why Suntour ate it.

Got the bar ends taped up.....cushy! They feel awesome. When I was at MEC, some dude was staring at my bike and nearly drooling. He asked me where I got my bike...I told him but warned him I've made several modifications to it since I got it. I even told him it's a low-end bike with "cheap" components but he didn't seem to care! Makes me feel great when my "cheap" bike gets some admiration.

Whoa, major cross-chainage!
That Portland looks nice, let us know how you like it when you get some miles on it.

I mostly cycle to get from point A to B (Critical Mass and riding the Seawall exempted) so I thought I'd repost this photo of the Tank/Pack Mule in her natural environment.

Share the road.
I envy you Luddite. You can put Seawall and Critical Mass in the same sentence while describing your biking. I have neither here in MT. Poor me!

Cross Check upgraded
I found it necessary to post this monumental upgrade. Yes, it's a kickstand on my CrossCheck. I am loving that I don't have to lean it on something anymore.

I don't think I've had a kickstand since I was a kid.

Definitely the nicest commuter bike I've ever bought. I'll post an update when I get a few hundred miles on it.

Yes, I did. I posted a first blush review of the bike on my blog here:

They're ergonomically designed yet may retain the look of the bike. I hope you choose a Brooks saddle for the same reasons.

You gonna eat that?
I never grew up.

Shiny Biker, I also have that Novara Fusion. I've made some modifications. Mine is earlier in the thread:
https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?p=9125432
Also, if you ride in the freezing weather after being out in the rain, there is an issue some of us have had with the rear brake, but it is fixable (notice that orange sheath on the brake cable in my picture).
