I need a New Bike Helmet, which one to get?
I was looking at a Giro Proligh, but it seems to sell for full retail $200.
https://www.giro.com/en-us/products/c...mets/prolight/
Not sure that it worth the cost and how comfortable it is?
I was also looking at a 2009 Ionos for $150 is the 2010 any different?
https://www.pricepoint.com/detail/188...p=215%20GIRIO9
https://www.giro.com/en-us/products/c.../white-silver/
The last one I was considering is the Catlike helmet, used by the Cervelo team
https://www.roadcyclinguk.com/gear-ne...lmet/3828.html
https://www.pro-bike.co.uk/12907-catl...elmets-45.html
Your thoughts and suggestions are most appreciated.

You should try on all the potential candidates for fit and comfort.

I know it's not hip, but I swear by my Bell Alchera, which I believe can be had at Performance for about $40. But go try on some and get what you like best.

i would never buy a new helmet / gloves / shoes, etc without trying them on, unless i was buying a new one of something i already owned.

Luckily (for me), there are a host of LBS's in my area, along with a performance shop as well. I feel bad for folks who live 50 miles from the nearest shop.

The closet shop that has the Giro Proligh is about 15 miles away.
No one in the USA has the Cat, it is not sold in the US.

Squalo. I have one, and want nothing else in the future. $129 is a good price, but the color options at stp are, shall we say, limited. Find them on ebay in every size and color, for not a whole lot more.

I just replaced my four-year-old Giro Atmos with a new Ionos. I went with the Ionos because it supposedly has better venting, and it's pretty hot here in NC.
The Ionos is noticeably heavier than the Atmos - I think Giro reported the difference at 60 grams. But the Ionos fits a lot better. I looked at the Pro Light, because of the weight (IMO, a helmet is one area where weight is truly important) but the venting didn't look that good on it.
If you are going to be racing in the U.S., make sure it is a CPSC certified helmet to meet new USA Cycling requirements. I don't believe Catlike and some other Eurpean brands have that certification.

You can't... err, shouldn't... pick a helmet by just looking at pictures. Every single one will fit a little differently. Trying them on first and finding one that is comfortable is a better idea. The more expensive helmets are just lighter weight with more vents. They are all certified in one way or another to protect your noggin.
That being said, I think the Bell Sweep is the best bang for the buck out there (off ebay)... low(er) profile too to limit the mushroom head look (yeah, we all look silly anyway, I know). Most comfortable by far I've ever had was a specialized s-works helmet.

for me the deciding factor was fit, so I tried many until I found one that was the most comfortable for my head. I would never buy a helmet through mail order.

+1 I drove 30 miles last week to get some MTB tires and a pump. I actually have a multitude of shops nearby, but there are two shops, 20 and 30 miles away, that have better prices and great service.

I just went from a Giro Stylus to a Bell Volt. I tried an Ionos among others. The Volt fits me better than any of the other helmets, it wont win a weight contest but the venting seems good. I also like it retention mechanism.
I order what I can online but most clothes, shoes, and helmets I buy at the LBS. I want to try them on and I wouldn't feel right about trying them on at their store and then buying it online. Some brands I wear a large and some a medium (not just helmets).
