Formula hub front axel, need replacement - anyone?
I've got a front formula hub with a stripped axel. I can't find anywhere to purchase just the axel. Anyone with ideas for me?
Harris cycles has a great selection of axels, they're just mostly for rear hubs.
thanks

This, too.
Until you can figure out the "feel" of torque settings I suggest using a beam torque wrench. I use a Park Tool 0-600 in/lb torque wrench on everything to ensure everything is torqued properly. It doesn't take that much extra time and it's safer.

You must be jumping on an 18" wrench to over tighten an axle to the point of stripping it.
Side note, $30 for a front axle from Ben's is exactly why I will never buy something from that site. What a joke.
I somehow broke a cone in half on my dura ace rear hub. Found a replacement axle with all hardware on it for $12. I decided to call shimano though, and they just sent me to an authorized dealer who took my old axle, sent it in, and ordered me a new one free of charge that arrived 3 days later.

It doesn't take much actually, especially for people who are muscular and are not sure what they're doing. Or those people with the "tighter is better, so they won't come off while I'm riding" mentality.
