Thanks, West.
Hey, thanks noglider. They are VO Milan bars. I like them a lot, though I wish they were about 2cm wider (they are 57cm wide), but I guess that's just a preference thing.

I like tape, but after a long search and plenty of testing, found a product called Reflect-All. It's a new spray that you can put on almost anything. I'll try and get a night photo - but it's amazing how well it works.
You can tape off your ride for nice effects too.
Not sure where to pick it up, ordered mine from reflectallaz.com

I also added some blue reflective tape but I don't have the photo on my computer yet. looks really neat. Really happy to do my first commute with my dynamo light!

Here's a pic of my commuter rig, which is actually so far my only rig :-) I'm sure I'll soon start yielding to the N+1 rule, but for now, I ride this baby everywhere in all conditions

Thanks! I love it... if I were to buy another rig, I'd probably want something speedier... still learning what I like though, so hoping to stay satisfied with this girl for a few years first
Oh, and after searching for a while, I actually stumbled across the Showers Pass Veleau 42 hydration system at Mountain Equipment Co-Op in Vancouver the other day (Canadian equivalent of REI). $80 at REI, but I only paid $9 on clearance at MEC - no idea why they were on so cheap (had been marked down to $29, 22, and ultimately $9), but I ended up buying a few just because!

Seriously! For $9 that's essentially free! I would have bought all of them and either given extras away as presents, or sold them on CL for a profit!

Just grabbed this bike off craigslist for short rides to dinner with the girlfriend and other random trips. The left shifter had to be adjusted to get the indexing to work, but other than that the bike is perfect. All I've added so far are the lights, pedal straps with temporary azonic pedals off my mountain bike, the rack, and the perfectly matching OEM saddle off my SuperSix.
Nearly mint condition Lucky find here in LA where no one seems to take care of their bikes.

Looks like a nice find. Curious - why do you have your light mounted upside down? What model niterider is it?
It seems that the beam pattern is designed for being mounted a particular way, so mounting upside down would impact the beam pattern. Is this partially why you have it pointing very far down?

Thanks! Upside down is mainly because I like a clean bar to look at. I sometimes even forget it's mounted there. It's pointed down because the light is bright as hell and I try to keep it out of pedestrian and motorists eyes. I have it just loose enough to adjust depending on the situation. If I am on a street to myself I'll let it throw further. It's the nightrider MiNewt 500.
always rides with luggage
That old Cannondale is hot.
That is all.
That is all.

So here is my current commuter bike. It is a 2004 Felt F30. Aluminum with carbon fork and seat stay. I brought this bike in 2005 (got a good deal) to do road bike riding (I only had a mountain bike before that). It got a fair amount of use for a number of years doing road rides with friends or on my own. Then it started collecting dust for a few years until I took a new job last summer and decided to try commuting by bike, making this my primary/only commuter bike. About all I did to make it a commuter was get some lights and replace my tires with gatorskins (after a few flats my first few weeks).
Soon this bike will go back to road bike and backup commuter (or when I feel like going fast on a nice day) as I am getting a N+1 bike for commuting and some light touring.

This is my commuter/pleasure bike. While this is a stock photo, mine looks just the same except for the addition of a trunk rack and Dinotte lights. I run the bar ends in friction shifting mode...makes riding a little more fun. A very enjoyable ride.

Thanks!
I'm sure there is another one out there just for ya
Not sure how friction equates to more fun, but classy ride none the less.

Well, grew up with friction shifting. Had a fondness for it. Using it is not difficult and quickly becomes automatic, like driving a car stick shift. There is a youtube video of a kid commuting in city traffic with a downtube shifter bike, he does pretty well: Downtube Shifter Commute - YouTube
And too, the bar end is a little less of a reach than downtube levers. I dunno, index shifting is precise and easy, but yes, I do think for me friction shifting is more enjoyable.
