He's Baaaaaack

Yes, he whose online nickname shall not be spoken, and wanting you to donate to Patreon, for the inside scoop.

Yes, our friend Eric Hites is really, really, gonna do it this time. Not spending days at hotels enjoying the pool and buffets and Mardi Gras and buying RVs for his wife to drive this time with all the money. I guess that's all gone.

He's about 100 lbs. heavier now though. Re-starting in Jacksonville.

you know what's sad? I want this guy to do it. I really do. Despite his profligate ways, his pretending to ride some of his distance, his total lack of transparency which leads to the suspicion of being a complete charlatan, his blaming everybody but himself, I want the man to do something to improve his health.

Is this the liar that was on Dr Phil?

Like my grandpa used to say:

A thief will steal from you, a murderer will kill you but you never know where you stand with a liar.

As I said the last time this came up, if he had ridden just 5 miles per day since this fiasco started, he could have ridden from Mass to Santa Monica, then turned around and ridden back. Four years is a long time.

I can't even begin to describe how this idiot makes me feel. then again, I'm working on my weight, down 110 pounds, and slow as clumpy gravy. I know my failures, I own my failures. I blame NOBODY. I'm 268 pounds today, and I approve this message... (And I do not feel like a wheel is going to collapse under me anymore!)

That's really great-congrats! No more special built wheels. If I am not mistaken, someone donated some custom wheels for Eric last time that are 48 spoke. But even those will have a hard time under 582 pounds.

the hardest part of the bike ride is getting on the bike.

When I rode from San Fran to LA, I left my family at the Hotel near Pier 39. Hardest part of the ride was the first 10ft out the door. I met them at home 5 days later

over a yr n half ago now. Hand down the best ride I've ever done. Only got lost a few time, trusting Google Maps to short cut thru Private land I'd do it again in a heart beat! The Hwy 1 is open from top to bottom now, it was still closed due to the land slide north of Hearst Castle when I did this trip.

He won't. He's never met an excuse he didn't like, he never met a troll he couldn't blame and he never met good advice he'd actually take.

I feel bad for his parents, although he's squarely their fault. 40+ years old, morbidly obese and living in their living room like a giant leech is no way to go through life.

He went home to get in shape and in control of his weight and actually got worse. He did nothing for three years! THREE YEARS! All he really had to do is get off his expanding ass and walk around the block (he has a dog!) 2x a day and he'd probably be dramatically lighter.

He is literally his own worst enemy.

You can find the former threads if you try, but basically this guy got in the failing New York Times once (maybe there was a small paper in Martha's Vineyard before that) as riding across the country for his wife and his health and of course the donations came pouring in. The ride was only moderately successful No verified weight loss could be documented. Shenanigans abounded.

Moderators hit the kill switch on discussion due to fat shaming, despite the fact he brings a lot of it on himself by being so dodgy. There's something about being a fat guy that those of us that have battled weight can identify with. But unfortunately, he uses it as both a sword and shield and seems not to want to really do anything about it.

So some years have passed, and he is trying to capture lightning in a bottle again, going back to the well of fellow morbidly obese supporters and other good natured people

Forgot to post this, a picture of his laptop now fixed, with... you guess it, a pack of Camel cigarettes. He's a habitual smoker among being 510 pounds. After promising he had quit smoking cigarettes for good.

See post #16 above. I joined the Fat Guy Not On A Bike Facebook group. This latest scam is a **** show not on wheels. BTW...For those of you who don't know, when he is actually moving he often "Flintstoneing," which is sitting on the saddle and propelling the bike forward by pushing your feet on the ground. That's why he has the saddle so low. And you should see his new trailer. The top is easily 4' above the ground with solid walls. That's going to work out well in a crosswind.

That's the killer for me. Three years to prepare and he engaged in no type of preparation that was calculated to lead to success. He did the opposite of what people told him to do. That says to me that he never had any intention of making this work. He's out of money and out of the spotlight. (He was apparently on the Dr. Phil show at one point.) This is just another stunt to get more of both.

And it's over. He had to go to the hospital yesterday, complaining of chest pain, back pain, leg pain, shortness of breath, narrow vision.... The day before he bought what would have been the biggest solar panel a cyclist has ever carried in history to spend money on an amazon card someone gave him. (look at image below to see how big this thing would have been). His wife posted earlier today begging him to stop and he's listened to her advice and announced to the world that his 2019 ride is over. (not his bike but it's the same solar panel he bought)

Wasn't really hard to guess what the outcome of this would be. I don't see why he just doesn't try to get on the trainer AT HOME and do X miles a day, Y days a week. Right now, he can't bike long distances. Throwing camping and "living on the road" into the mix was doomed to fail from the start.
