Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not as bad as centerlock horror stories I've heard from roadie disc brakers. Sometimes the BB tool lockrings will rub on road forks. Nasty.
Yeah, a BB-type won't fit the fork of my Domane. Well, it'll fit but it won't spin. At first, I thought that the disc just didn't align with the caliper position, but the problem was pretty obvious once you look a little closer. I can't imagine how someone could be so oblivious to that as to let it become a horror story, though.

At the same time, some hubs, like yours and one of mine, are too much for the interior diameter of the cassette-type, so having both is a necessary evil, it seems.

Very true. Mine was named Benson, and was a male, as opposed to the other Benson we all know and love.

I'm actually shocked the Rottweiler is in the top 10, although that's testimony to how awesome that breed is.

We had to put down a toy poodle many years ago. It was my wife's grandfather's dog and the poodle was devoted to him. At the funeral, the dog transferred his devotion to my then 8 year old son. The dog became his protector and guardian and would have nothing to do with anyone else if he wasn't present.

First warning was when the groomer refused to clip the dog after the second grooming due to viciousness. Then the dog became mean when anyone tried to interact with my son. The final straw was when the dog attacked me from behind while I was walking down the hallway and shredded my hand with his teeth.

Small package, but lethal.

We had several when we were kids. They were a pain in the ass, frankly, but indestructible. One of them once walked into the elevator dragging his leash and wearing a metal training collar. The elevator went down and the leash handle stayed on the 11th floor. The dog was on the ceiling before my mom or whoever else was in the elevator could hit the emergency stop button. Dog was fine.

As long as I'm on the subject, my mom had a stray from the shelter one time. She and my dad were headed to Europe the next day and she took the dog by cab from 22nd street down to somewhere below Houston, where she was boarding her. Dog ran away from the kennel personnel while out for a walk and high tailed it into traffic. My mother came home a week later, found out, and was understandably distraught. Dog turned up outside the building a few days later and was recognized by a neighbor. Anyone got a good explanation?

Dogs are weird, but life wouldn't be complete without them.

On the subject of "toy" dogs. If most toy breed were the size of a pit, they would be outlawed.

As I rolled the Haanjo back out to the garage, I noticed that the saddle, a Toupe, felt a little springy. I didn't see any cracks on the bottom side, but I'm still leery. If this is a second broken Toupe in this still young year, I will, of course, blame @Dan333SP for speaking these problems in to existence.

At age 8 or so I was also attacked by a small poodle at my aunt’s house. She bred them. Full size poodles are wonderful
dogs, but they don’t downsize well.

I think that the main problem with small dogs is that their owners don't feel it's as important to keep them in check, as if being able to yank them back forgives the snapping and snarling going on at the end of the leash.

We've been watching Soap on Saturday nights. Classic Guillaume!

It makes me jones for some Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman since they played them back to back every night in syndication here in the mid '80s.

Well, not like a "Oops, I sawed my fork blade in half with my lockring" kinda horror story. Just a "Hmmm, I guess I can't use these wheels on this bike " horror story.

I got in a short ride on the rain bike. Made it without getting too wet, just a few sprinkles. Now it’s raining again.

Too hot for afternoon riding here today. Gonna have to get out on dawn patrol if I'm gonna get any miles in.

Supposed to feel like 89. That might be cool enough for lawn mowing.
