Went out for a quick ride this morning before having to do errands for the day. Managed to get in 41k which suits me just fine. As luck would have it, I had no sooner brought my bike inside than the skies opened up and the rain came down.

Worked on income taxes yesterday when conditions were better,
but got out today for some hills & wind.
Was able to tailor the route so only 5 miles of headwind & much more tailwind.

Got so distracted with bike adjustments and parts swaps I almost forgot to ride. Only one ride this weekend, 27 miles on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. Several walks of 1-3 miles the other days.

Non omnino gravis
Saturday, a 47.5 mile loop route w/ ~1,500ft of vertical that I've done many times, with a nice section of dirt trails at right about the midpoint.
Sunday, rode the exact same loop but backwards. In a typical level of Strava oddity, the reverse route was 0.4 miles (2,112ft) shorter, and had about 25ft less elevation gain.
Though as far as recordings by a consumer-grade GPS device, those may as well be identical. Less than 1% variance in distance, about 1.5% difference in elevation. Could all come down to more left turns on one day than the other.
A little more wind than I would have liked (my preference is for zero) but it was beautiful weather both days.

Cookie cutter Saturday and Sunday. Both were hotter, more humid and windy (really windy on Sunday). My legs aren't quite back yet so did 33 miles going to Picnic Is. and back.

After an hour long evening ride last Tuesday in the chilly weather, I bailed on more evening rides. Sunday was a 30 mile ride. While the sun was out and the temps were reasonable, it was very windy and a tough ride. My wrist and elbow felt OK, but after 1.5 hours of riding they were certainly showing signs of fatigue. Getting back into the saddle after stops was difficult with weak feeling wrist and the elbow wanted to be at an angle instead of straight. But overall, no pain and I felt fine after the ride and the next morning. I think it is just going to take more riding to help build up strength and improve flexibility. The cardio is going to take longer to improve after eight months off the bike and no other form of cardio, and walking is not cardio.
