The mother of all chain whips
OK, this is unreasonable and I only did it cuz I could. I've made a couple of chain whips using angle iron - one shown here. In removing FW cogs I've bent these and needed something stronger. I obtained a piece of scrap steel what could provide the material I needed. After studying the piece for quite a while, thinking about where to cut it and how to shape it I finally decided "wadda ell, use the whole thing". So I did. Shaped the end to accept the short chain then added the oak straps to stiffen the steel (like the bronze strap on a classic back saw). The chain is a used one from a BMX bike I serviced at work.
Uncalled for, don't you think? A friend of mine suggested I carry that in the car. If some hombre gets mad and wants a road rage confrontation out there on the road, I step out with this, letting the chain swing gently in the breeze.
Nah........

Someone else suggested this was an original Game of Thrones chain whip. Hmmmm. What would a Game of Thrones 10 speed racer look like? That goat skin thing on Wacky World?

That looks like something from a Wes Craven movie Truly, if the freewheel or cog don't break free with that, you really don't want to have it, or the wheel it's on.

My thoughts exactly. If these don't break it free, put the wheel down and back away slowly.

Can you also craft chainmail?
That seems to combine certain attributes of a halberd and a flail. You might discover a second career fabricating items for Renaissance Faires.

Before you use it, you need to hold it aloft and say: "By the Power of Grayskull!".
