Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Picked the longest route on zwift. Went instantly to climbing a mountain. 30 mins in and I have gone 5 miles.

Strangely I am enjoying this more than I did last year.

It’s icy out. Work has a 2 hour delayed opening.

Looks like it could be from a OEM Kit. These are not packaged the same as the consumer items.

That seems to be standard on all of these platforms. The first ride that I did on FulGaz had several short climbs in the teens. It was my first so I picked a nice sounding “Country Lanes” in Yorkshire or somewhere in England and immediately started hitting walls.

Right on, I compared it to a 105 cassette I had lying around and it looked identical. Will let you know if I have problems.

And it could be; just what jumped out since I had the same thing in my office. It would be nice if they did that; there's too much dman plastic-coated cardboard and film around. I cringe unboxing Apple stuff now.

That size is still in common use here, and those old roadsters are quite common on the local streets. They originally came with rod brakes and have been converted to coaster brakes. The old men ride them

Before Zwift I used music coupled with cycling videos. The type with 1st person views were very helpful with motivation. Now with Zwift I just tune everything else out and focus on crushing avatar souls. But an hour, 1.5 hours is about all I can do. I have friends that do Centuries a week on top of regular 20 mile rides. I dunno how they do that. 2 hours is the longest I've ever done.

It’s going to go on the cervelo, and the 11-25 ultegra cassette will either go on the trainer or save it.

The ritchey has an 11-32. I have a spare 11-34 that I am thinking about putting on the trainer, do you see an issue with putting the ritchey on that? If so i’ll just throw the 11-25 on it. Chain may be a little loose but shouldn’t matter.

It’s supposed to rain and rain hard all day tomorrow. I think i’m going to revive zwift just for tomorrow. I really want to get another century in.
I'm not sure about Shimano. But a 34 won't fit an a midlength derailluer. (SRAM) 32 is the limit. You may want to check before you use it.

look at the plates there's a bunch of specific numbers and info on each one. Match that against pictures of known "real" cassettes. Look at the profile of the teeth some appear to be twisted by the way they are ground on a real cassette. I guess ground in an angle would be more accurate. The fakes don't bother with that, the have reliefs ground into the faces of the cogs.

intersting, the 11-34 came on the cervelo when it was new, and that has a med RD too.

I put it on the trainer and the ritchey shifted fine.

I had issues with a 34 hitting the derailluer cage in first and second gear. Thought I ripped the hanger off. Glad I tested it on the stand before riding it.

Plan was to do 100 miles today on Zwift. Wife was fine with it taking as long as I needed, Birthday today, so that’s what I set off to do. Uber preztal was the wrong choice. I lasted almost 3 hours total. I don’t know how anyone can do longer than that.

After all that was said yesterday, I ended up getting paid extra money from holiday pay last month. Wife said Christmas was back on.

Should see these Saturday.

So this morning I started on epic KOM. Had no idea what this was and an hour went by I still wasn’t at the top.

At one point this guy gets next to me and stars trying to talk to me through the messenger thing. I’m doing zwift on my ipad and I can’t even reach it while i’m on the bike so I couldnt respond. He kept telling me to go settings and turning something off to make it easier to pedal. I couldn’t comprehend why he kept telling me this. What is the point of climbing in zwift if you make it easy?

Anyways, after about 6 attempts of talking to me and me not responding he disappeared. The last mile of that climb btw sucks. 16-20 percent grade.
