Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

these are "race formula" on ebay. 4 for $19.80 shipped. My initial impressions are favorable. Assometer says less rolling resistance, ride quality is as good as before so as long as they continue to hold air I'm keeping them.

I have recently returned to 52/36 gearing, I used to run 53/39 but even with a 32-11 that was to much for any climbing of lenth. So I tried 50/34 and hated it. I was always behing the cadence. Every shift felt like it was already half spun out, but shifting earlier was under rpmed. I have none of that with the 52/36 it's just right.

Are most folks using 3s power on their computer display?

3 or 4 rides so far on my new power meter and I'm still trying to figure out how things work regarding maintaining a consistent effort. I can do okay if I stay in the same gear but shifting just throws everything off!

Yes, 3 seconds is typical to see a fairly smooth power response. Trying to be within a few watts is nearly futile on the road. Maybe one can keep within ±10, but it take a bit of practice and discipline

Thanks, but it's a car camping trip with some riding thrown in. I never bothered to take mush of the camping equipment out of the car from a few weeks ago. Laziness sometimes has its rewards.
