New study finds no long term health benefits
I find this fascinating. Definitely worth considering.

Am I missing something? No long term benefits of what? Cycling? Onions? The synopsis mentions nothing about what confers no long term benefits.

Are you missing something?
Yep - It's The Onion. A satirical comment about everything. Take nothing they say seriously.

Damn..... is the Onion still out there? Next you'll be telling me they still print Mad Magazine<grin>.
My long term research still is not conclusive. I've got a friend a few years older than me that has been well overweight for all his adult life, borderline obese by BMI standards. For the most part he only has a little back pain to complain about now that he is into his sixties, he does take the usual blood pressure meds. He doesn't do much towards getting any cardio exercise. Where as I on the other hand have stayed below the obese part of the BMI chart and even in the ideal range for much of my adult life. I don't need blood pressure meds or cholesterol lowering meds.
So at this point, how can I argue that my life style is any better than his. He gets done what he needs to do and is none the less happy than I.
After posting I decided that what I just struck wasn't relevant to this post, so please don't let it change the tone of the post as intended by the OP.

"No Long Term Benefits To Reading News Stories About Health and Nutrition". Fixed. Trust your own experiences, what you know and what you've seen work, over what these clowns say. Their advice changes practically every day. You'd go nuts trying to follow all the various conflicting "health facts".

It dovetails perfect with the ground breaking "Nutrition/training for a metric quarter century?" thread.

Those camel wool socks are amazing. I was like, "What are these things?" after I wore them for a few hours. Indescribable.
Didn't want to take them off and so I walked around all day yesterday with brown socks and black shoes <gasp!>.
Curse you. Now I'm spoiled.
I'm sure there is no long term health benefit though.

I read this years ago not long after it came out, and it really put the health thing in perspective: https://www.theonion.com/world-death...ent-1819564171
