Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have a Trek 2100 back from 1995, my first "real" road bike. Put many memorable miles on that thing, and then recently upgraded to a Trek 5200, which I absolutely love. The 2100 has been slated to trainer duties now .

Here's a generic pic of the 5200...mine is in nude carbon, which I LOVE:

I put Nasbar titanium pedals on it; they were relatively inexpensive at $130, but only weigh 240 grams, noticably lighter than my old Looks. I am also running a Ciclosport CM434 computer with cadence on the 5200.

Finally bought myself my first road bike. I've been dreaming about this all summer.

Argon 18 Xenon. Aluminum frame, full Tiagra with Xero XR4 wheels.

Of course, the remnants of Katrina would be raining on my parade today, but as soon as the weather clears, I'll be taking it out for a real ride. I'm so excited and happy to finally have a road bike.

When I was in maine last weekend we were in a parking lot and there was a 5200 with sero bars on top of someones car. It was in nude. I was like thats nice!

The Cyclery. Cyclelogik recommended the bike to me originally, but by now they're sold out.

The Cyclery is an awesome shop. Enjoy the ride, whenever all this bloody rain stops.

It took me about a day to get used to it....when I first saw it in the shop, it almost looked as if it was all dusty. Now, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I absolutely LOVE the look, and the overall color scheme of the bike. I love the overall feel of it as well out on the road.

I like that Argon 18, you really don't see a lot of those around at all. Good to see more Canadian bikes out there

A 2004 Trek 5200 OCLV team bike with Bontrager Aero wheels for races and tours and a 2005 Trek 5000 OCLV for training. Same size same layout, the 5200 is just lighter by 1 lb. :-) Love riding them both!

Hey guitarwizard.

Norwich..but I ride in the Willi area sometimes and just started riding with TCC recently. Do most of my business with Scott's Cyclery. The 04 5200 is a great bike, ride, shifting, weight, paintscheme..everything. The new 5000 I have is nice too, but kinda' plain looking.

Was originally going to get a Fuji Royale road/hybrid but it had a lot of issues with iffy shifting that the mechanics couldn't figure out. He recommended I return it to the shop (same one he works for). Anyway, long story short, bought a Giant TCR2 full fledged road bike instead. I'll have to get used to the drop bar shifting and the paint job is a little loud, but otherwise it definately accelerated faster than the Royal and more importantly shifted solidly. Its screaming to be used on a century - but I'll have to work my way up to that

No real changes except 2 bottle cages.
