Best Book for Repair and Maintenance
I am interested in learning more about doing my own repair and maintenance. What are some good books out there for this? Thanks!

your local library should have:
complete bike book by chris sidwells (updated 2003)... among other things, has a GREAT and very large exploded color photo of a road bike that clearly shows virtually every nut and bolt.....
bicycle repair step-by-step by rob van der plas also works well for me. he's a good teacher and a good writer and illustrations are clear...
zinn & the art of road bike maintenance (might not be at the library)...

Park has a new bike maintenance book out which looks like an improved version of the material on their web site. Zinn's book is pretty good, too. I recommend getting 2 books in case you can't understand one or you want a second opinion.

Zinn and the art of Road bike maintenance

Bicycling Magazine's Maint. book, 5th edition

I have the 4th edition, it's a great book to use as reference if you're ever repairing an older bike (published 1999).

If you're really just starting and haven't ever really done any of your own wrenching, I think Barnett's might be a little too much to digest (although a great set of manuals...). Start out by reading up on the Park Tool site as johnny99 suggested, see what tools you would need to buy (another whole level of investment) and do it. See how much of an appetite you really have for it before you drop $80-90 on a Barnett's set. For basic maintenance, you'd do fine with the Zinn book, or any of the others mentioned for that matter. These days there's good enough info with pictures on the net that you don't even need a book for the really basic stuff. My suggestion would be that you work up to it on the stuff you must do to properly maintain your ride instead of paying the LBS and doing without while they do their thing.
