Bare with me... (new bike?)
Ok guys, I know most have had bigger problems in life... this is a very very nice problem to have and if you could please spare the "spoiled brat" comments on this it would definitely be nice. I know you guys just like to give a little bit of tough love but I'd like to just get sincere opinions .
It's Xmas and everybody is out and about getting gifts for everybody and specially themselves. This morning I took my mom and dad to a sporting store to check out some sneakers for my mom so she could go walk with my dad. In the jolly spirit of the holidays they ended up buying 4 pairs because they were on sale. Although 4 pairs may be a little too much I'm happy they are doing a healthy move (hope they use them). Me, I bought a thong for my bike so I didn't have to sweat all over it while on the trainer.
So the store sold sneakers but also sold very very nice bikes. Cervelos, QR, and BMC to be precise. I told my parents how they were usually very discounted since they were "last year's models". They got all fired up when they saw there were such good deals to be had on the bikes. My father said he would like to give me a nice Xmas present. We ended up looking at these two models with the following specs:
1) 2013 Cervelo S5 - Zipp 404, either 2013, Sram Red or Ui2.
2) 2013 BMC TMR01 - Zipp 404, either 2013 Sram red or ui2
Price ranges from Price varies $300 for Ui2 and Red, the latter being more expensive and the BMC is about $500 cheaper than the S5. The S5 does not fit my Quarq power meter. The BMC does. The BMC was never in my sight but now it is. The S5 used to be my dream bike but it will turn out 5-700 more and no PM.
What would you guys choose? be in mind that the bikes are being discounted some due to them being 2013. I think about 25% off. The components are the last generation and that is kind of killing my high.
PS..... I was told by the payor to take the bike right now right there if I wanted it, even encouraged. Very, very hard for me to turn my back on it. I will probably won't end up taking it... Guilt trip. (PS. My parents are not trying to buy me off, I am 26 years old. They are just very good parents that may not exactly know the harm done in giving such nice gifts).

Both are very nice frames.
I would test ride them and buy the one that fits the best. If they both are a good fit then buy the one that rides the best. If they both ride great buy the one you think looks better.
Personally I am biased toward the BMC since i own 2 of them, but if the cervelo fit me better I would have no regrets choosing it.
Choosing between the group sets comes down to personal preference. Red with the yaw front derailleur works very well, thats what I have on my Team Machine. I've test ridden bikes with Ui2 and it worked great too. I prefer the ergonomics of the SRAM hoods, but could get used to shimano if thats what I had.

Have your parents adopt me quickly. I'll take the Cervelo as my "welcome to the family" gift. Thanks

I was thinking Red because I already have Ultegra 6700 and it is not that great. Is there much of a difference in shift quality between mechanical and electronic?? or is it just added servo to the same crappolla?
his name is Taco.

Well, I read pretty much nothing but good on e-shifting. BMC was my pick since you can put on your powermeter, which is huge IMO.

I totally get where you are coming from. Though i have not had a new bike offered as an Xmas gift, I have gotten spoiled the last 8 or 9 years, now that my parents make a pretty comfortable living and my mom tends to spoil me with things. All my friends are lined up at the door asking to be adopted. Don't feel bad about it. Take advantage.
If it were my choice, I'd go with the BMC. For one, the PM fits the BMC and not on the cervelo. second, I generally dont like Cervelo's. There have been a couple threads lately about what bike to go with and if this bike really better. It really comes down to what you want more. Between the two, there has to be one that jumps out at you more, right? Both good bikes, just go with your gut.

Wished my parents would do this.......oh wait, I am almost 44 years old! But if I weren't they would buy me a bike from K-Mart thinking the Huffy was a great bike. Thing is, they just have or would not have any idea! That is okay because I come from a different generation and in 1976 I did get a very nice Schwinn 3 speed with a bananna seat with a sissy bar that Christmas! Now for you young folks in the early mid 70's a Schwinn was top of the line bikes from a defunk store known as Western Auto! Ahhhh, bringing back great childhood memories now.
But back to my point OP...............that is great they want to assist you in a great sport that is also great for exercise! I hope to someday go to my LBS and fork out some jack for my daughter to ride!
So to your choices..........hmmmmm, I really don't know much of either so toss a coin! BTW......Congrats and be thankful you have parents who care about you.
Merry Christmas! Notice I did not say Happy Holidays<<<<< hate that term!

This is the exact bike in question. I will, however, change the crank to my current Quarq and put on 404 clinchers.... I will go tomorrow with my full kit and give it a test ride.

I feel guilty now. My kids are 25, 29 and 32 and we're not buying them anything like that.
Back to your question, I'd go with either Ui2 bike. E-shifting is great. At least try it!

I'm surprised that no one has pointed out that the geometries of these two bikes/brands are very different from each other.
Go with the one that FITS you.
If you're currently on a Spec. Roubaix, the Cervelo is going to fit more similiarly than the BMC. The Cervelo being a bit more tall and narrow vs the BMC which is a bit more low and long.
If you want a bike with a fit similiar to what you currently have, Cervelo. If you want a lower & longer fit, BMC.
Is there not an adaptor that would allow your pm to fit the Cervelo? Or, is it a clearance issue?

I'm not sure why you needed to post all that. Could have just asked, 1) 2013 Cervelo S5 - Zipp 404, either 2013, Sram Red or Ui2 or:
2) 2013 BMC TMR01 - Zipp 404, either 2013 Sram red or ui2

That is sweeet! But forgive me because it looks like a Tri bike********** Maybe it is the new look. I do like it and the color is awesome! My Orbea Orca is a dark gray matte and I love the color. So darker colors get my nod.

I think it is pretty much a tri bike with road bars. I really wanna see what that aero feel is all about!
