^^^^^ Morticia isn't available?
Will have to check this out next year. I'd be willing to carpool (well, truckpool) with anyone local who's interested.

Unless the USS Enterprise can beam from here to there, I won't be able to go, as much as I would like to..
Have a great time, all.

Lilith has risen to the challenge of being my new BTV, Bicycle Transport Vehicle
BTW Everyone, I’ll be bringing a few “boot sale” items, an old set of Cannondale Panniers, a pair of gold Mavic rims never ridden but built up at some point and unfortunately one has a small crack, they’d be good for a wall hanger. Also a great but mismatched set of wheels, Campanutella LF hubs with a MA2 and Ypsilon rim 32h with radial front. Great looking wheels, very low miles just not matched.

Before they retired the Enterprise I could have rolled 2 miles down the street, boarded and been flown to the Bike Party. Really. Well, they might have just arrested me. USS Enterprise, CVN-65. Home ported in Alameda, CA while I was living there, early '80s. I used to go up to my apartment roof to see which carriers were in and what the town was going to be like for the near future. Enterprise just in? I'd get hit up by at least two hookers just walking to the Safeway. And again when it was about to leave.
My transportation is much more pedestrian (velostrian?) now and I'll have to pass. Enjoy!

I grew up in the Bay Area (well, Livermore) and have lived here most of my life. When the family would drive into San Francisco, I would always look to see if a carrier was in port. I remember being excited to see the distinctive box-shaped island of CVN-65, even if only from a distance.
Okay, back to our regularly scheduled programming. Have a great time, John et al.

CV-6 was scrapped in the late 1950s, CVN-65 is "awaiting recycling" (read: soon to be scrapped), CVN-80 won't be launched until sometime on 2025, and none of the NCC-1701 series have ever existed, Gene Roddenberry and legions of Trekkies notwithstanding. I'd say I'm SoL, Enterprise-wise.

Will look forward to reading about and seeing the video for this event.
Would be really cool if there was a event ride, even if short, to show the classics (riders and rides) in action.

jjhabbs John, how did you fare last night? I was in touch with a friend in Naperville who said they had some severe thunderstorms; we had several up here and at least one large tornado on the ground.

I would agree on the event ride. However this is February in Chicago. Hard to plan with the weather. IM thinking about doing this event again in the summer along with a 30 mile ride down the trail..

I was there while Coral Seas was on its last days. The oldest (*and non-nuc) carrier. Alameda's favorite. They got treated as hometown royalty when they were in. Enterprise were the new boys in town and had a serious chip on their shoulder. Both ships in? Not pretty. Coral Seas left and the brand new Carl Vinson took its place. Overnight, the Enterprise crew grew up! The Vinson crew were midwest hicks. Big, corn fed, and no trouble. Just glad to be here! Funny watching that play out.
Hope you folks had fun today. My MIL lives in Lake Bluff, maybe I’ll make it to one of these one day!
