Need price and info on a 2005 cannondale r700, currently I am riding a 2007 specialized allez, base model that I put a complete 105 drivetrain on, like it a lot .

Came across this cannondale r700, bought new in 05, ridden 6 times could not have been much, it looks showroom new. I rode it, felt great and fit great. Thing is I was not looking for a bike, price was 850.00 and after week of haggling I can buy for 450.00 here are the specs of the cannondale. Would this be a worthy upgrade?

I think $450 is a good price for the bike, but a worthy upgrade? I'm probably not qualified to answer that. You might ask on the Road Cycling forum for input from riders of CAAD7 and Specialized Allez frames. My hunch is that the difference wouldn't be all that noticeable, unless the frames have radically different geometries.

It's your call, though. To me, seems like you'd possibly be dumping $450 into something that might not ride much differently than what you currently ride.

+1 Nice bike, I not an upgrade.

But if you like how it feels and rides, go for it! You should be able to get most/all of that price out of your current bike.

Cannondales sell very well around here.

Not an upgrade? Not sure on ur typo? I like it, kind of fell into it, one of those deals it was for sale way high$ I thought the color was cool and the fact that it's a cannondale and low balled not expecting the seller to take my offer..
I am now thinking / maybe agreeing with the JYB said above if it's not really an upgrade over what I have

I think it's pretty comparable to what you already ride.

Having said that, there's got to be a reason you've pursued it this far- why is that?

Maybe not much of an upgrade but having multiple bikes is always cool.

I wouldn't let that some of us feel it is not an upgrade keep you from buying it. I pretty routinely change bikes. Some qualify as upgrades, some were sideways, some a step down. It doesn't matter, I just wanted to make a change.

Good looking Cannondale by the way. And that's a very attractive price, so I think you will do fine if you change your mind later.

I'm on the fence , it was just an impulse lowball offer that I did not expect them to take, which they did after going back/forth a few days. What caught my eye was the color and the fact it was a cannondale, and thinking it would be a major upgrade, nothing else.. Now looking at my allez on the trainer, I'm thinking why the hell would I want to change? Lol

30-40% of MSRP and not a dime more. 1996 MSRP was $1250

That also looks like a triple crankset. Nice looking bike, and as Bill said, sometimes change for the sake of change is a good thing. The price is certainly good.

Yes it has a triple set, my allez has a double compact.

Any benefit for me with the trip set up? I don't think
I would be climbing anything I would use the small ring?

If you haven't found the need for lowering gearing, a triple is probably unnecessary. I find a triple useful on long, hilly rides, especially those which push the limits of my endurance.
