It is correct, at least within a given "class" of bike (a mountain bike will be slower than a road bike on a paved road, pretty much regardless). Within that... yeah it's basically all engine.

had my first near miss today. Lady backing out of her drive way, looked right at me approaching her and continued to back up. My thought process was she would leave me room to pass, wrong. She kept going, and almost squished me into a car parked on the other side of the street. She thanked me with a choice finger and went about her day.
