Well where’s the ethics in that? The higher the bill, the higher my out of pocket cost, which in this case is not insubstantial ($7350) for a concussion and broken rib.
Pretty much all day long I hear moaning about the cost of veterinary services when many of my expenses are the same. It’s especially ironic when coming from physicians, who routinely bill people 10x it seems.

Yeah, you're not really there without the patchouli. I absolutely love the stuff and my wife absolutely hates it. I have a bottle here, that I can use when we're apart. If I happen to walk past someone wearing patchouli, watch out!, especially if she is female. My head snaps around and all the rest.

I am in private practice so my charges for a visit are actually quite low (typically around $100 per visit) but when insurance only gives me $65 I cannot balance bill the patient. I eat it. And my costs keep going up. I make about half what I made 10 years ago, and that’s why most physicians are getting out and/or working for a hospital system. It’s totally dysfunctional and I don’t see any good solutions coming anytime soon. Sad.

Okay, so dumb patchouli question - why? I'm familiar with the scent, but that's about it.

I’m thinking there’s just more hippies around than we realized.

Sure, why not. It is a fun experiment. See if you think they are better than other kinds of tires. But I wouldn’t bother if you don’t spring for quality tires. No sense fooling with training tubulars.

Sorry Ive been trying to stay off screens, had a crash last week and a concussion. Also: no alcohol which really blows.
My 25 hour hospital bill for my bike crash last week was $42000. This is just the hospital bill, not doctors, not ER, and does not include the radiographic studies. Lol, I love it when people complain about their veterinary bills.

My SIL, the chef, snagged a 170 bottle (or so) Vinotemp wine fridge for me at a restaurant supply auction for the amazing price of $300. That is just about how much red I have now that won’t fit in the existing 182 bottle fridge. Sweet. I keep most reds at least 10 years and worry about the ones that are at room temp. Of course the air conditioning at 72F helps, but I have been losing a bottle here and there lately. Mrs. rpen will kill me if I start building up the supply again in the unrefrigerated racks. There is absolutely not one additional square inch of space left in the house for another fridge. This is it. That damned www.WTSO.com gives me no peace. There must be 10 cut-rate wine offers every day. I am such a sucker for the Italians that seem to be a specialty of the website.

So, back when I was training semi-seriously I always had partners or a team and that day’s workout was that day’s workout. How the hell does one keep it in zone 2 for 3 hours alone?

You learn to get along with yourself. You learn to take the whipping, and survive the last hour.
