How's the weather?
Seems most the YouTube pro cross races I see are full of mud. The tires are for mud.
The CO races this fall were dry. USA Nats, Reno, is typically a pretty dry area too.
I get weather is regional. I'm not seeing all that much mud at the local level.
What is the weather like when/where you race?

Has been pretty dry here, a few spots in last weeks race had mud spots from rain the few days before. mostly made it annoying. A month ago the early race was really dewy and the grass sections were pretty slippery. not mud but I wish I was running the tires I have now.
Dry races are definitely out there.. Clement even made the LAS filetread for the Cross Vegas race.
Ride what the course gives you.

Dry as bone here in the Mid Atlantic region. We had one rainy day and that was for HPCX.

First mud race I saw was yesterday, but my race was right after the only hour of rain in the day. Two hours later and the course was back to – mostly – tacky and fast.
I missed one other mudfest in the mountains last month.
Other than that, dry as a bone.

I've done 9 races and they were all mostly dry (one was before rain hit and ended up being muddy for later races), a couple were misty, and I skipped one because it was actively raining and muddy (I have to step up my clothing game for next year). being a 4/5 usually comes with earlier start times so conditions were never really ever bone dry due to morning dew and such

You don't add mud?
There is always a muddy section around here, even if its dry. We like to truck in some snow too (not sure how they pulled that one off though).

Drier than normal this year after 7 out of 8 races were mud fests last year. This year we had 2-3 muddy race, 2-3 dry races and the rest were somewhere in between.
Season start Sept and ends late Nov - which a lot of us wished was pushed 2 months, but promoters are concerned about scaring off riders. Who wants to ride in the nasty mud? I do!
