Tires for Waterloo? ...WC CX Fever!

Hooray! Zero responses to Trek Waterloo World Cup post! We're cookin' now!

The Euro stars are in the USA! How often do they come to Midwest? Have Sanne and Wout been in the Midwest before? Doubt it! Lots of buzz here about this awesome weekend coming up! Actually ZERO BUZZ, but we can pretend! Where else to discuss and get excited about CX here in the USA? Nowhere! (Don't worry, the chat at CXMag.com doesn't have much more going on.)

So what kind of tires for this course hot and dry like it will be?

I'm gonna do the Cat 4/5 on Sun. I'm wondering allrounders or filetread?

After watching the race yesterday, it seems to me that running an aggressive mud tire might be a good idea when it's so dry that track is disintegrating under your tires.

yea its not uncommon depending on your race time to have significantly different tread than the earlier races.

I had an early start as an old fart among young 4's. Track was firm and fast. The steep up Factory Hill was loose but totally doable with my allroundeers. The pro's interview said firmer pressure was better. I forget why. I never felt my rim so I was probably fairly high PSI. By my friend's gauge 30F/35R.

I got 61st out of 90-something young 4/5's. It looked like I was oldest there. I wanted later start. And bigger field seemed fun. Some tiny tween stayed ahead of me quite awhile! Rascal! He was quick on the flats but had no power, the little twink. Prolly weighed only 75 lbs. Messed up my rhythm. Finally crushed him! I made it up Fctory Hill twice of 4 times, balked on the other two -- my fault for being behind going into the section.
