Garmin watch

My got got me a Garmin watch for Fathers Day. Got it set up but haven't tried it out yet.
It seems pretty nice and he also got me a rubber strap to mount it to a bicycle.
Can't wait to try it out.

I ride my older bikes with my Garmin watched instead of my bike computer. There is just something about not cluttering a 40 year old set of handlebars with electronics that I like to avoid.

Same here. But you can link your Garmin Connect account to Apple Health. I charge my Apple Watch while I run or ride and the move and exercise rings close when I synch my Garmin. That way, I can use the Apple Watch to overall track my activity but still get the better (in my opinion) data from the Garmin.

but it does not do much it does not contribute to your exercise ring. only what my Apple Watch picks up because of the elevated heart rate or if I record exercise with it does it all do your exercise ring. my gamin ride will so up win the fitness app sometimes it takes days but they don't add anything to the exercise ring. Wonder if I did not have the Apple Watch would it? if I turn it off I wont get any exercise. it did not used to be that way but now its pretty pointless syncing garmin to the health app. none of your heart rate info is put into it.

Which garmin watch(es) are we talking about? I’m looking but can’t figure out which is right.

All I really care about is fitness tracking and keeping time - not all the smart watch stuff.

This discussion might go better in the electronics section of bikeforums.

congrats on the new watch......all my bike are C&V and it is fun to ride without looking at the cyclometer (which is do on my best bike) but still be able to look at the data on the watchh after the ride

Very happy with the Garmin Forerunner 935 that I’ve been using for the last three years. Like it MUCH better than a touchscreen Garmin I had briefly (gotta love REI’s return policy, even when it’s shorter for electronics.) The battery life on the 935 easily lasts through several days of riding. Lots of ways to add/change views and options.
