That looks suspiciously like Varsity frame set up with a different fork and 26" wheels.

Pretty much what it was. Schwinn was trying to catch the the mtb craze with all the other makers. Components are from early bmx makers and do have value. The King Sting was the top offering.

After five minutes you'd probably rather look at it, but that one does look original and unmolested. Like the Ross Diamond Cruiser, it was a low-end machine crafted to get into the market quickly when a craze hit. Not saying it did not fill a niche or contribute a vital link in the lineup, but serious riders looked elsewhere.

In the same way that I like to go to vintage guitar stores and play some of the weird 1960s Japanese guitars, just to see what it's like. But I'd never pay for one or take it home.

The ad itself made me laugh 'original rotted out tires' 'they are bring big money on ebay'. He could probably sell off the parts on ebay but no one is going to pay 300 bucks for that, ebay or not. Personally I would not even go out to see it sounds like some ghetto thug.

Legnano Roma Olimpiad on CL

https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bik/6586767389.html

From what I've seen a few of these go for lately this one seems pretty reasonable?

Vintage Legnano Roma Olimpiade road bike,
23" frame c-t
I am listing this for an elderly friend who isn't computer literate.
I have the bike here to sell.
This bike has been sitting in his upstairs closet for at least 40 years, the tires look ok but are dry
It takes Sew up type tires, (Tubular).
Campy Nuovo Record
Fiamme tubular rims, campy hubs.

I like Cinelli 1A stems as much as the next guy, but if he gets $160 for his, I'm selling mine! It's NOS. Gotta be worth at least $200, wouldn't you think?

Ooh no - it's the Waterford shot glass it's leaning against. My alcohol-collectivistic insticts kick in. Waterford... Hmmm..... Wait, there's something bike-related in there?

My first thought was: these are 3 bikes, not 4; and the Trek 700 is the only one worth $100.4 Collector Bicycle Lot Albert Lea - $400 (Albert Lea, MN)

https://rmn.craigslist.org/bik/d/4-c...594064813.html

Selling my rare collectible bike collection, The Vintage Stump Jumper was rebuilt last year and NEVER ridden since. The other three need minor going over. Will separate for $100 each, NOT The Stump Jumper that one by itself is $300.00
Just buy all four and have a blast.

OK- an early 90's Stumpjumper FS that's worth about half what he thinks it is. I hate ads where they lump one OK bike with a bunch of dreck and hope you buy it all at once, but still— it's not wacky enough to post in this thread yet. Then I noticed that they installed the new combined brake/shift levers flipped and upside-down :]

I dunno, I went looking for an old beater to ride to work, and $100 was about the best you could do. In fact, the best one I found was an old Rockhopper that turned out to have a cracked seat stay.

Oh yeah, it's a true "survivor" after you modified the frame and repainted it.

If you're going to ask about double market value, at least clean the bike.
