What a shame when you could go here and but a proper cycling jersey between $11 and $17 with Lycra and reflective bits and usually free shipping. https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale...home.1000002.0

They may not be perfect but will beat a cotton T all day long.

Heck, you can get Quick Step jersey and bib shorts for only $8.36 with free shipping. Probably the same stuff the team wears.

2 months, 27 pages, and there's still no reason to think your opinion on what other people should or shouldn't buy is at all useful or even interesting. It's just as stupid and pointless as if someone tried to convince you that you weren't comfortable.

News flash--good fit and comfort are subjective judgments.

I would buy one of those jerseys, but my junk is in the correct location.

Yeah. The Raudax jersey logo sorta looks like the Rapha logo. Ergo, the garment must perform as well as Rapha stuff. I paid $55 and $60 for my two Rapha jerseys. I feel so violated.

2 months and 27 pages later, and no one has changed their opinion about the value of cheap/expensive bike jerseys.

Why should anyone change an opinion if the data has not changed (or have not changed, depending on where you are on that side-debate.)

Why anything?

I hear those jerseys are popular with people in the olive oil business and "waste management."

I don't have any $40 water bottles.

I'd say those disposable bottles full of water are one of the biggest wastes.

And if you try to cram one into your aluminum or steel bottle cage, you'll end up ruining the cage pretty quickly.

Time for a little more practice riding before making major judgements about what works and what doesn't. Perhaps use a bottle developed specifically for cycling over the last 50+ years (not that you want a 50 year old bottle... EWWW!!!

Ever see cyclists on the grand tour races stop and get off their bikes to take a drink of water in the middle of the race?

Interesting. DUI while biking is not an enforceable charge in Ontario or anywhere in Canada. Most ppl don't know this. According to torontodui.com. Unless u are riding an ebike with pedal assisted motor.

So for winter riding, I can only fill my water bottle with vodka on my regular bike.

Bonus points if you can get it for free from a nearby dumpster.

The ROI is highly dependent on a variety of factors, including opportunity cost (=foregone earnings), college choice, major choice, lifespan, and non-pecuniary factors such as personal enjoyment and native intelligence -- just to name a few. It's probably more accurate to state that college is a good investment for some, not for others.

I've never heard (nor read) any informed observer voice a blanket opinion like Phil_gretz 's, though -- and I've met (and read) a great many such people.

I would be hard-pressed to say my education wasn't worth it. It's all opportunity cost though, grad student stipends aren't that great. My tuition was either paid or cheap. There is no doubt if I had moved chasing better jobs that the payoff would have been much better, but I have had some very lucrative years. Who knows what the people who paid me think

My biggest all time waste was buying a new racing bike for my starter wife who thought she might like to get into the sport. She got her mileage up to do a half century, completed it and then parked the bike forever.

Probably. However, it's my money, and it's going to get wasted on something. Wasting it on something I enjoy and helps me stay healthy(ish) seems like a decent reason. I've definitely wasted money on worse things.

Spending money on something you enjoy that is good for you isn’t wasting money…unless you spend money on Gatorzkins tires.

This is part of the method I used to go from being basically broke and homeless to actually functioning financially. Poor people end up buying poor cars at high interest rates and having to replace the car before it is paid off---usually be going back the the shady dealership which sold them the car, who will sell them another---it is basically a lease program, because the car will never get paid off ..... but no credit, no option.

Repairing the car is an ongoing financial drain---every part is worn, so belts, hoses, starters, alternators, O2 sensors, brakes, mufflers, tires, are always failing .... and often replaced with more used parts (pick-a-part junkyards and buy here-pay here car dealers---a perfect marriage.)

Then of course insurance ... which is usually monthly or quarterly because the person doesn't have the capital to pay for a year up front---and the payments are Much higher than the lump sum. And of course, gas.

If a person has kids, the bike option is pretty much not an option. But for a single person or a couple without kids, that is hundreds of dollars a month not leaving the bank account.

Sorry ... didn't mean to get all serious in this thread, where actual information is not really part of the program.
