1963 Schwinn Paramount

Most early 1970s Nuovo Record with a Bottecchia 1970s reproduction early Record rear derailleur and Suntour barcons.
Brooks B17 special, Brooks bar tape, high flange Record hubs laced to Mavic Open Elite rims, DT Revolution spokes and Panaracer Pasela 700x28 tires.

Took about 3 years but here we are.

thank you for sharing this project

what is the headset it wears?

how did it come to have recessed brake mount up front and nutted at the rear?

headset appears much later Campagnolo Record.

so Disneyland that font is. Pretty bright Red for the time and appears original.

The headset is a modern Campagnolo Record. It was the only one I had on hand that the crown race fit nicely.

The brake holes were a bit mangled by a previous user of the bike so a recessed front bolt and a donated gugie brake insert saved the rear. I also happened to have exactly that combination of brakes with a drop bolt rear to make it work. There are some details of the brake saga in the linked thread.

I like to call this "sympathetic" building, sussing, wrangling, etc.

Close as I can get without waiting, spending to no avail, true enough to the spirit of the day, then and now.

It's not catalogue correct but they are functional improvements, I can ride it today and still put my kids through school.

Most of my C&V has little modern touches here and there because I ride them regularly but I do appreciate a true period build.
