Overpay?
The guy seems firm on $500. It would be a huge overpay on my part, but all the work is done and it’s in my size. Well, the work is done how he likes it. I Brooks out my bikes and would change the tires too. I’ll be in it for over $600. 😬 That’s a lot for an Ironman. I’m going to drive to Pflugerville and buy this bike aren’t I?

That's been on CL for quite some time.
Although that's in good shape there are others... I think I'd Wait.
BTW, if that's your size, you and I ride the same size Ironman, 54cm.
It looks original except for the saddle (which I like) and the tires.

Yep, I’m in Houston. I do ride a 54cm. I ride up to a 57 comfortably. I think I’m going to pass for now. I’m going to try and figure out what I’m keeping and what I’m selling. I’ve got too many random bikes and I want to focus on certain bikes like I do with Ironman bikes.

I haven't ridden any if my Ironman bikes since Aug 29th...until today. I finally said ok to my biking buddy. I have been riding but just my mountain bike and only about 30 minutes each ride.
So as expected, I got dropped a few times but he eventually waited each time. He wanted to ride 30 hilly miles and I said not doing it. We did 26 instead...well he did 26 I did 25.something. I knew I would likely get dropped and decided to take my earbuds (which I never do when riding with others) but I knew I have to do some solo riding because I knew he wouldn't have mercy on me. Headed to the turn that takes us on safer roads about 5 miles out, I asked what his heartrate was? He calmly said 130 meanwhile my heartrate and breath rate were thru the roof... to be clear, I don't have a heart rate monitor, I was going by old fashioned pain rate. So at the turn into safer roads I adjusted my earbuds (still didn't turn them on) and lost contact. He slowed and eventually I caught him and he said "There You Are". So we continue and decided to ask him some thought provoking questions, you know, to slow him down. However he's in pretty good shape and continued to hammer. Just before 10 miles i tried to adjust my earbuds again and lost Contact. ..again. So I thought I would turn around at 10 and he could go the extra 3 before he figured out I wasn't behind him. But unfortunately one of the thought provoking questions I had asked him earlier was What is the most difficult thing you have had to overcome? So I said I'll just ride towards the 13 mole turnaround and when I see him coming towards me I'll turnaround, giving me a little lead. BUT, he apparently wanted me to make The full 26. Finally I see him heading towards me and I turnaround, of course he catches me and the mile later drops me. I turn on my Bluetooth and continued at a My fitness related pace. With about 5 miles to go he's on the side of the road waiting and I'm thinking maybe my wish came true and he flatted...I kid, I kid. No, he just decided to wait for me and says I already smoked a pack of kools, the bastud. With 5 miles to go, I decided he ain't getting away from me, and I left one ear bud in so I wouldn't have to mess with it. Next he did exactly what I thought he would do. Gradually he started pouring it on. So made sure to stay within one wheel length directly behind him and Stay there no matter what. There's a red light but it changed about the time we almost stopped. This guy can accelerate from a stop amazingly quick but I anticipated and actually had the right gear (for a change). He took off and I used everthing to stay with him. 2 miles to go he starts building faster and faster just like knew he would but I also knew there was a point of no return and when I thought he hit it, I put it in a bigger gear and dropped him. He had no answer and I was dying but when I was about a block away I looked back and I was done too but I swayed my bike back and forth pretending I was going harder, of course I wasn't but just in case he decided to try to catch me. Reality check, yeah he's in better shape and kicked me around pretty good but it was still funny.
I've been riding my mountain bike about 3 times a week and here's some pics. Everything is as I bought a couple of months ago except for the saddle, toe clips, and Avenir bottle cage.

My favorite thing is the red stripe on the tires. It reminds me of the Hot Wheel wheels.
Check out the Diamond Back DB on the grips and bars.

Here's my '89 Ironman I rode Sunday. It's as dear to my heart as my '86 Classic, as fun to ride as my '87 Miami Vice and as unusual as my '88 Carbon Ironman. It's the only Ironman I have that is set up as a pure Road Bike...but not the last.

^^^^^ Are you still waiting to find a frame that will fit the tire leaning behind the door on the right?

The red striped tires are sweet! I wish you could get car tires like that. Maybe they are available. What color is that frame? Is that a silvery grey or sandy tan? Hard to tell.

Tough to decide on a favorite. It depends on what image you want to project.
The silver is saying smooth, classy, and fun. Hard to beat. Just like Ray and his band. The black/black though, it's telling me you are out for blood! You are flying the Jolly Roger. No Quarter given or taken. Someone is meeting a violent end. More like the soul of a 52 Vincent.

It's a '89 and resembles the '89 hard rock Ironman paint. Centurion guru fleslider says it's "Iridescent Lilac Smoke". It has a red tint when you move it around, It matches the Hot Wheels red stripe road friendly tires the PO installed. I wouldn't trade this bike for any other mountain bike, modern or vintage.

I have a wrecked black frame. Let's have a look.

His ex is a good vocalist, despite an affliction that paralyzes her vocal chords at times.
I sort of prefer the Commander Cody version of HRL that comes ripping out of the speakers right off the bat.
As far ast that paint scheme, “wrecked,” I have a 56 cm Centurion Turbo in that scheme, plus chrome in spots....
It needs a home.

Just finished part 1 of my ironman rebuild. Stripped everything down replaced the BB & headset with an innicycle conversion headset. Shimano 600 is still working smooth.

Back at the beach again this week with the family. 26 mile TT style ride today with the SiL, averaged 23.3 on the downwind leg, 20.3 overall.
Me on the somewhat updated 86 Ironman, him on a late model Specialized Allez.
Fun!
