Great Divide trail

Hello, I'm going to turn 70 this year and am going to attempt the great divide trail... I have plans to buy either a specialized Fuse or Rockhopper bike. Would you ride the 27.5 wheels or the 29ers? Any info or suggestions on these bikes would be helpful. I am starting around the 15th of August and will have to do the part down to whitefish by myself. If there is anyone that is going at this time maybe we could help each other. Meeting my son in whitefish. thanks in advance for any help or advice!

You might try looking for a ride partner over on bikepacking.net. Or check out crazyguyonabike.com.

Good luck. That would be the trip of a lifetime.

Think I will do it with either 26" or 27.5" wheels.

I want to do this trip as well! I'm thinking it would be a heck of a trip once I hit retirement!

I would go with the sizes you're thinking of. There's a lot of road or packed, tame trail on that route and you want tires that are good for that stuff too, not just knobby offroad tires. There's lots of info online where you can see what others have used and had success with. Also, awesome that you're doing that trip! You're gonna love it!

Your choice.

There's a huge amount of touring information on there. Plus some of the travel journals are great to read (check out Jeff Arnim's last trip).

I tried. That place isn't easy on the eyes. Could use an overhaul
