Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Lone gloves on my rides lol

What is it with passing random gloves (lone gloves) on my rides? Does this ever happen to any of you? lol.. almost every ride, I end up passing just 1 glove, not 2, just 1..lying around on the road or wherever. Weird

I think single socks escape dryers and run off and hide in the house. Single gloves leap out of cars and then get run over before they can hide.

About once per year I lose one cycling glove - always the right hand. I have a nice collection of left hand cycling gloves, hoping the pattern will reverse some day.

Commonly seen singles:
  • Glove
  • Shoe
  • Sock
A few weeks back, I saw a lone sneaker in the gutter. Some quarter mile later, there was it's partner, and I actually exclaimed aloud, "Heeeeyyyy!!" Seeing a pair of anything out in the road is rare.
