Literally this is true. I only have one bike in FL (the Domane), and I stopped by the Trek dealer with it on my way home. He described some of the components as 'tired'. When I told him of the bike's mileage, he grinned and said 'we like to see our customers get their money's worth'.

MTD: 550.0 miles
GOAL: 500 miles

This was going to be fun, a 90-mile ride, ending with a leisurely train ride home. But 30 miles in, I hit a rock that tore the sidewall of the rear tire and rendered it irreparable. So I found a bike shop 2 miles away and walked over, estimating they'd be open by the time I got there. Got a new tire and got back on the road after an hour and a half, but by then the sun was farther up, and on a long stretch had some exhausting headwinds, which slowed me down and tired me out so I ended up missing the last train home despite pushing hard to get there on time. But through the courtesy of a friend, who gave me a ride to my mother-in-law’s house, and someone at my house, who will at some point collect me, and I should get home. So it was an adventure, just not the adventure I’d planned. UPDATE: I did get home, my wife came and collected me a little while ago. Not sure I'll be adding any more miles to this month, but never say never.

Got the green light from the doctor earlier this week after 6 weeks of surgery and rehab. Took my first ride this morning, did 10.41 miles. A little tired after the ride but damn it felt so awesome to be back on my bike and to be back on the road.

Rain the last mile back home. 🙁

Edit : it was a short shower , then it cleared and was hot and humid the rest of the day . Glad I rode when I did .
I spent most of the rest of the day tinkering with my bikes .

Son and GS live 800 miles away from us, and he just restarted biking this year after a 30 year layoff, so it was a rare pleasure to ride with him. GS fell and hurt himself on the ride we all did together, and it was very hot and humid during their visit, so he rode with his dad but not me after his fall. I expect son and I would have done one more ride together, except that my knee hurt for a couple of days after the crash. Without the crash, we'd probably have ridden another 30 miles or so.

I had a goal for the year of riding 12 miles in an hour (I stop at red lights and slow down for STOP signs and stop if I don't have right of way). Rode 12 miles in 1:01 going North today into a vicious headwind. Rode 13+ miles on the way home in an hour with the tailwind; I would have done it quicker, but I hit red light after red light and had to stop. I'm marking the goal 'accomplished.'

ETA 8/31: 26 miles, total for the month: 226, rounded.

Congratulations to everyone who rode, and especially to those who made their goals.

I did forget to mention, after six weeks of being immobile went from 220 to 236 . . . ugh . . . have some work to do.

Late to the party. I didn't have a goal, per se, but live in the PNW, am not fond of riding in wet, so try to get what I can in during our summer. MTD: 327.7 miles in 9 rides. So will head out tomorrow AM and knock off 25 or so to break 350. When younger and lighter, did a couple 200+ mile weekends (STP) and a couple 400+ mile weeks. Used to commute to work 2-3 days per week in July and August, 70 miles round trip, and those really piled up the miles.

But at 245 pounds and 66.5 years, I'll take 350 for August, and will gun for 400 for September. Weather permitting, should be doable.

Cooler weather did come (80 F) finally. From home in the western Chicago suburbs I strung together three MUPs to make my way to and from Genoa City WI. I had been thinking about this ride for awhile. Some statistics: 110.4 miles round trip, 8 hours 29 minutes moving time, 2365 feet elevation gain, 7 liters of water with hydration mixes and 28 oz of Gatorade and one can of Coke, two sandwiches from home and one BBQ brisket slider on the way home (Dukes BBQ in East Dundee), two candy bars and two disappointing Honey Stinger Waffles. I had to hustle on the way home due to a late start after barely sleeping last night. I am a bit creaky tonight and have a few sore spots. That's probably it for August for me.

MTD - 710.5 miles
GOAL: 500 miles

I had been out of town and got back last night and planned the last ride today to make my goal of 350. Woke up this morning to a thunderstorm and thought I might have to wait for tomorrow. Fortunately it cleared by 11 or so and I was able to get in the last 17m I needed to hit exactly 350.
