Riding and Wildfire Smoke

I'm over around Altadena/Pasadena. Haven't ridden since early last week---going a little bonkers. But the air quality sucks so I'm trying to be patient.
Anybody out riding in SoCal where it's not so bad? I will drive to get somewhere where the air is at least OK. Right now, even the beach areas look bad on the AQI maps. I ride gravel bikes, so dirt or pavement are fine (though I prefer dirt.

I'm near the beach in OC. Didn't ride all last week due to the smoke. My gauge is the amount of ash on my car's windshield. This past weekend it was almost non-existent so did 25 miles on Saturday and Sunday mornings, 15 miles this morning before work. No issues noted after those rides. The sunlight is still a little yellow (hi-altitude ash?) but I'm good with the situation right now.

Was just looking at that. I've also got an app from the EPA, and one called AirVisual. Also using this map: https://aqicn.org/map/california/

It's funny, amidst all the orange/red/purple in my area, there's this one green dot. Well, I was just over there and lemme tell ya, it ain't green! That sensor must be inside somebody's house next a fan

got through an entire 10 miles today in metro san diego with the air quality hovering around 140. rode five miles to a lunch destination and had plans of doing
some low-key big gear riding for 40 miles or so to be out but rode directly back home after lunch. air quality was bringing on allergy-like symptoms (scratchy throat,
heavy dinner-plate eyes, fatigue) and it just wasn't worth it.

i did 20 miles in the oceanside/carlsbad area on monday where the air quality, that day, was in the low 60's. wishing i had ridden a little more monday.
tuesday in metro san diego was not great (20 miles before saying enough) but today was worse.

That's a cool site. Unfortunately for me, it shows a deep purple (202) dot about a quarter-mile from our house, And more red dots on my route to work. Yuck.

I haven't ridden for a couple weeks. Smoke is getting better..... bad in the morning but clears out somewhat in the late afternoon.

Man, I just rode for the first time in over a week today here in Altadena. Some pavement, fire roads, a little singletrack. And most importantly, blue skies! Was a revelation. To say it helped my mood would be the understatement of the century. Here's hoping it holds up this way for a while...

A tad better in the southeast (Henderson) compared to the west (republic of Summerlin).

Santa Ana winds, with their northerly component, will blow the smoke off shore into the Pacific.
