2021 Trek Domane SL6
After riding today, I rode my friends new Trek, totally blacked out color. What an incredible bike. Seriously impressed by it. Nice to see the threaded bottom bracket. Honestly one of sweetest bikes I have ever been on. 12 miles felt like 2, after a fast 36 miles that says a lot.
It is going to be hard not buying one.

Yes, I really like it.
The good:
ISO speed really works in taking out the road chatter which makes the bike comfortable.
T47 bottom bracket.
Hidden storage compartment
Long head tube means less saddle to bar drop, which is what I want.
The bad:
It is heavy for a carbon bike.
Wheels are 1780 grams for the pair
Tires were not to my liking (replaced with a more supple Rene Herse tire at 28 mm, though will try the 32's soon).
Cassette was also replaced as I didn't need 34 teeth in the rear. I put on a Dura Ace 11-30
It is an endurance fit so take that into consideration. If you want something closer to your Serotta, then the SL6 Emonda would be a better choice.
There are a slew of nice bikes out there, you just have to find one that suits you. Good luck.

When it comes to carbon bikes there are just a handful because only Trek, Specialized and Pinarello are using threaded BB. Well Allied does too but 8k is too much when you have two other bikes.
It is utterly annoying that on a 4k bike they put $200 wheels. Its absurd actually.

That version of the Emonda looks sweet. Thanks. I will take a look at it as well. 28’s are my limit especially with the internal width of those wheels. 28 really means 28+ on those.

The T47 is nice. I am not a Trekie but I will give it to them on that. Good to see more people adopt T47 sure it may not be perfect but theaded is the way to go.

The emonda comes with 25s, which is what I ride, but can fit 28s at the largest. Bigger than that and you'll want a different bike.

My understanding is that GP5000s are being shown to stay relatively true to size when mounted.
Trek says the Emonda will clear 28s, but a few of the reviews say it can actually hold something larger, but I can't give you first hand advice.

I have put GP5000 23mm and 25mm tires on 19mm inside width Aeoles Pro5 wheels. The 25mm are 28mm wide. The 23mm are 27mm. So width will depend on rim inside width. Take care.

I went with a Domane SL6 Disc back in 2017 as a mid-life crisis bike.
The 2021 has that cool storage compartment in the down tube, a 34 tooth big cog in the rear, threaded BB and adjustable ISOspeed. The first three I'd like, I doubt I'd ever change ISOspeed damping.
That year, the SL6 came with Vision 40 wheels, which I really like. Never ridden the Bontrager ones that come now. I'm more of a tourer than a racer but those wheels make me feel fast! Between the 32mm tires (I didn't like the R2s that came with it - they weren't very grippy but still wore out pretty fast, went with Continental GP 4000s/ now 5000s) and the ISOspeed damping, the ride feel on long rides on real roads is fantastic.
Strava says I've put 9400 miles on the Domane - just had to replace the rear cassette. Had a few issues early on with the plastic cable guide under the bottom bracket but Trek upgraded the design and solid now. I've become a big fan of disc brakes (and thru axles) since this bike, and replacing pads is easy - but overall a bit more maintenance and cost than rim brakes. I weight 225 and downhill stopping is no longer an adventure - worth it.

Well, spent an hour at my local Trek store and the Emonda sang to me a little louder. The stack is higher than I expected and it felt perfect.
Frisky bike thats for sure.
Not a criticism but an observation, the metal and metal work on Shimano Ultegra is not in the Campy league at all but I get it works just fine. The hoods felt as good.
The Pro 6 version it is.

I bought the Emonda 3 days after the June launch date and have a late July through mid October arrival window and was told I got lucky by several friends in the know so i feel the pain.
