Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just ate the first one. So sweet. Most are 2-5 days from being ready. We used to have 2 trees but one got sick and had to be cut down, so now just one. I would estimate we have around 60-75 on the tree. Not millions, but plenty for us.

Blatant advertising of a performance enhancing substance.

One of my coworkers brought in several spaghetti squash from her garden.

We had one for dinner, with pesto sauce. Simple, but amazingly good!

Easy 50 mi. with a friend. Beautiful evening sail with long-suffering spouse. Anchored in a pretty cove, unfortunately within woohooing and ****-yeah-ing distance of a raft of drunks. I think there are too many of them to spend the night, but who knows?

Do you strava your sails? One of my friends is a neonatologist who does.

Whole different thing. Performance is all relative to conditions and the kind of boat. Competition is strictly in person unless you are going for a transoceanic record.

Distance races all have real-time tracking satellite tracking on the Web now, so the folks at home can see the dumbass mistake that cost you the podium.

The original store moved down the road to Ridge Ave. just before where Main St. starts. I only went to that one once. It was a bit of a mess since it had just opened. The new satellite place is called the Kickstand Cafe. Might check it out today.

Speaking of podium, Mr. @datlas needs to delete his half ride on August 6th from Strava so I have a better chance of staying on the Addiction podium.

Guys, I know it’s been discussed before, but, what’s a good range of Nm for a 1/4” torque drive? I have my eye on a beam type, but it can only go up to 9 Nms. I’d rather have just one even if I’d have to be a little bit careful to reset to lowest setting when storing a clicker.

Highest I really need is 50 for cassette lockrings. But you can do these by feel, once you know. Lowest I need is 5.

So 5-50.

edit: might be 40 see below

I thought it was supposed to be 40 Nm on lockrings. But out of the hundreds I've put done, I've only once put a torque wrench on one and I've never had one loosen and I've never broken or stripped one.

It might be 40, as I am going by memory. Once you know how much “stutter” to push through it doesn’t matter much anyway.

Good ride today. Family movie date later this afternoon with mrs datlas and both daughters.
We are seeing “The Farewell” followed by pizza dinner.

The movie has 99% on Rotten Tomatoes.
