(ignorant advice)

Let him catch you and then pace off him?

I'm hoping to make the 20km mark before he snags me and then keep him in sight.

The TT bike fit seems off. I got on the trainer for about 30 minutes before deciding to mess around with things a little more (I know not the best idea less then 24 hours before a race). I did a lot of reading earlier in the week to get it fit as best as possible, but things still felt a little off. Ended up shifting the saddel back a little, and raising it as it felt to low a little low. Messured my road bike and after those adjustments things were pretty close, minus the knee being a little forward of the spindel which I hear is good.

I guess its just a whole different feeling, just got me a little on edge as I want to get a good performance in. Just going to have to go out there and have some fun, I have taken this week more as recovery as I over did it 2 weeks in a row (learned my lesson from that).

Russ never caught me... crap power output, but obviously fantastic position because for my cruddy power I still managed a 55:27 for second place.

Your TT fit should be almost nothing like your regular road fit. If you make your TT ride's geometry the same as your roadie, you're basically just riding a road bike with aerobars.

Yeah after everything I read, it is definitely a different fit. That said after doing research online and trying to fit myself for the TT using the fitting tips for TT's, and training on it for a week, things still felt off. If I had the bike longer I would have definitely made a attempt to work things out a little more. However Friday night came, things felt off to the point that it was have caused problems. As a last resort I decided to get things closer to my road bike which fits perfectly, (I know frames are different so things would be a little off regardless) to at least get me threw the Time Trial.

Picture taken of me at event showing the fit.

In either case next event ill either A. Have purchased a TT bike and get it fitted or B. Get a demo again and get it fitted.

For Cat 5 men, I ended up with 20th out of 48 which was not great, but all things considered I guess stuff just does not work out.

Avg 302 watts... blech. I do 3x20's at 330 ON the TT bike, so something drastic went wrong. What can I do in August now?

Church Creek II. August 22.

I like Church Creek, but it always seems like there's a semi-nasty headwind in the middle.

Tom, I would kill for a 302 watt avg. Mine was 268. I totally screwed the pooch on this TT. I went out from the gun at LTHR at 315 watts, holding around 25.5 mph for the the first 18 minutes or so and then ran out of gas. I did the whole TT at my LTHR but my wattage numbers just faded after the 2nd right turn. The section between the 2nd turn and the 3rd turn was pure torture. My arms were killing me. They hurt more than my legs did. From then on it was all pain all the time to line. The only reason I didn't quit, is because I always quit and I needed a small victory here. That and I still had to keep riding to get back to the Jeep anyway. LOL!

Speaking of...After I crossed the line and clocked a 64:14 I kept on going straight back to the school. I didn't stop for squat. Had I stopped I would never have gotten back on. Still, it took me over a half hour riding at a snails pace to get back there. And I was going as fast I could. That ride was torture too! I got passed rather quickly by guys on their way back too, and I keep wondering if they just did the same TT I did.

Time to get serious. I want and need to shave 3-4 min off my time. I got a little piece of pacing advise that I'm going to try for August. But I will be going back maybe once every 2 weeks to work on it.

All in all, I'm happy that I didn't finish last in the Cat 4s.
