Which bike ?
Looking at 2011 Trek 1.2 for 325 vs 2011 Scott Speedster R30 for 400... both bikes in excellent condition and looking for help from people who know more than me. TY

What we don;'t know is ... what you want the bikes for, which if either fits you, what shape they are in (what Precisely does "excellent" mean?).... We have no way of knowing which bike might be better than the other, and no way of knowing if either is good for you.
At the very least, please post links to the ads so we can look at pics and descriptions.

You can compare the components and MSRP for each here:
2011 Trek 1.2 - BikePedia
2011 Scott Speedster S30 - BikePedia
I'm a little surprised to find Shimano Sora and Tiagara level components on bikes costing $900 and $1050. They are not the lowest but certainly at the low end of the component list. The second bike shows a bike weight of 20 pounds but the other one does not list a weight. I'd say buy the one that fits you. I used to ride a 21 pound French made Motobecane Le Champion before I got old. It was a joy to ride because of the light weight for bikes those days.
