Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I figure the brifters are already black no matter what, so may as well have black hoods too, especially since that's where your sweaty hands spend most of their time - one less thing to really clean. I've got white bar tape and I love it, but it's a chore to keep clean...don't want to also be cleaning hoods so much.

Personally I just don't think white hoods add anything to the bike like white tape and saddle do. To each their own though.

Ehh, not feeling any of it. How about no stickers at all? I think that would look really nice.
Nothing wrong with white hoods. Just harder to keep clean.

Non-drive side photo.

Some sort of reflector or light.

Saddle bag.

Pump.

Also:

Warning stickers on rims

Not feeling the front QR positioning, but maybe that's just me. I'd say 12:00 or 3:00 (fan of 12:00 myself to avoid kicking it open).

Otherwise it's a nice bike.

Is that what those are? Do they warn about extra stooping distance when wet? And are they common on stock bikes? I haven't bought a stock road bike since maybe the early 90s. Schwinn 754. It came with a sticker on the frame that read "Wet rims require extra stopping distance."

I think that's what they are. Even my Zondas had some sort of warning stickers on them that had to get peeled off immediately. I think my Specialized hybrid had warning stickers too when it was new.

I’ve used white handlebar tape in the past, but they are a PITA to keep clean.

So now I use Cinelli Mike Giant tape, I like the design and it fits well with a B&W bike.

Nice, I like that tape. I only put white tape on it for the finishing touch and for the new bike pictures....I will go with black from now on. I did submit to GCN but no avail, I will keep trying though.

I am going to get that tape!! looks great

I actually never thought of a white seat, not sure why. Hitting ebay right now! White hoods no because I will not leave white tape on the bike when this is nasty. Just wanted to try it but fear the dirty white so will go to the black/white that was suggested.

New stem arriving today so will "adjust"....I just couldn't get that size to work comfortably.....needed a much shorter stem.....not white but will lever things out a bit.

this picture was my first ride on the bike but had to get a photo out....

how in the heck do you do a multiple quote in a reply?! ahhhh

Sorry. The purpose of the picture was to show the white hoods not to be a hot or not picture. It’s as ridden, not a glamour shot. There are no reflectors.

As ridden is all good and fine. Prepare to be ignored or called on it should one choose to stage the bike in that manner.

Here's a better picture of the 2017
Roubaix SL4 Sport. Modifications from stock include the Sella Italia white saddle which came from my previous bike, the white tape and the white hoods. For those who dislike white hoods, they are a breeze to keep clean. I use Lysol All Purpose Cleaner (yellow spray bottle) about once a week.

If you want a pro tip on keeping the white bar tape clean, use Westley's (well, now Black Magic) Bleche White. It's available at any auto parts store, and it's made for white wall/white letter tires. When I bought my bike, as an auto detailer on the side, I decided to try any and every remedy/product/home made concoction to determine what was the absolute best (oxy, baking soda, vinegar, lemon juice, etc etc etc) and I finally determined that Bleche White straight out of the bottle as-is worked the best, hands down. I use a clean, wet terry cloth to gently clean off what obvious grime I can, followed by a dry, white terry cloth to dry it, then I soak another terry in Bleche White, soak it on the tape for a minute or two, and then gently scrub the tape. Then use the wet one to remove it, and the dry one to dry it and you'll keep it sparkling for a long time to come. Try not to get any uncoated aluminum wet with Bleche White, it can corrode.

Here is mine after 1000-1200 miles of sweating hardcore on it - looks like it's never been ridden:

I already posted this pic in this thread so not posting for critiques this time but I guess since it's here, feel free to blast my spacer stack!

Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a try. No complaints about anything on your Colnago. It's gorgeous.

Thank you good sir. I do like me a good Specialized too (see avatar) - love 'em or hate 'em, they build great bikes.

But your seat looks pretty wrong - a bit of downward tilt goes well with a big drop to the bars, but you have a lot of tilt with little drop and it's slammed back on the rails, which can't be right unless your femurs are unusually long.

I’m sorry...a hipster bike? You don’t know what the hell you’re talking about, it’s that obvious. Like it or not it’s a different matter but this has always been called a classic bike by everyone who’s seen it, at least in person.

Your friends have low standards. Don't get your panties in a bunch over it. I'm just giving you my opinion.

FTR, the frameset isn't a classic. It just looks like one..

Dia-compe shifters?

Nice seatpost though
