Union Bicycle not Royce Union!

I don't own it but thought I would ask if anyone has ever dealt with a Union bicycle? Not repeat not a Royce Union.

I believe they were made in Holland, but not sure. Owner wants $40. I just got a Raleigh "City Tourer" 3 speed given to me so don't need anything to work on but wondered about it because I had never heard of the brand and possibly others on here may never have heard of it either. Obviously the seat is a crime but paint looks great.

However that $40 price has caught my eye.....

Anybody with ideas on value or who knows these bikes??

YOU are spot on!

Union is indeed a Nederland badge.

We need to hear from member @non-fixie to give us the scoop.

You rang sir?

From what I'm seeing, it is a Union Sakai. These were sourced by Union (a somewhat rebellious Dutch brand) from Japan, and although they were Union's entry level offerings, the build and paint quality is unsurpassed. These regularly show up in our local classifieds, and more often than not, the paint is impeccable. And I love that "burnt orange" color.

I have one, in the same color, but as it is not my size I can't tell you anything about the ride quality.

For forty bucks you can't go wrong, I'd say. If I had this in my size I'd replace the saddle with a Brooks B17, mount some nice touring drop bars and have myself the prettiest and cheapest "sportive" ever.

My bad. It sold today. In my defence I was assisting my niece move but not sure that rates as an excuse...
