Shimano FH-6800 11sp hub with 8 speed cassette - spacer?
Hi all - I picked up a hi-zoot new wheelset built around Shimano hubs.
The rear hub is a FH-6800 and I'd like to run an 8sp cassette.
The hub included the pictured spacer - just want to confirm that it's necessary an 8sp cassette.

Yes, the spacer that comes with the hub should make it compatible with an 8-, 9-, or 10-speed cassette.

Agreed, if you do need one of them also, let me know I still have the one that came with mine when I got the 11 speed compatible Fulcrum Racing 7's. You can have it, just let me know if its needed.

Pay attention to the wheels after the first few rides- since the wheels are machine built and not really relieved, the wheels will often ping multiple times as the spokes settle in. Once they are settled, the tension is all different and the wheels are often times out of true(small bit or good bit, no way to know beforehand).
I have a set of 36hole H+son Archetype rims laced with butted spokes to 105 hubs on my gravel bike that are fantastic for the cost. They arent light(no wheels with Shimano hubs will be), but they have been extremely reliable and the new Shimano hubs are super easy to service. Much nicer design than decades ago(blasphemy around here, I know).
Anyways- listen to the sticker on the box and adjust spokes after a few rides if needed.
