50 mile ride in Denver
Any good routes recommended? Taking a newbie w/me so no climbs too steep preferred.
Thanks

I'd recommend a route using Perry Park Rd. Easier terrain and quite scenic. Good road for beginners. Plenty of route options on adjacent roads too, although most have a small hill to climb.

I live in SWest Denver.. I was thinking of starting at Bear Creek Lake park and riding east on Bear Creek to the Mary Carter Greenway, then the Platte trail north, and back, but if there is a loop, that would be better.
My riding partner has done a 20 mile ride, but that's his longest. My longest ride has been a 38 miler...
Where is Perry Park Rd?

There is but there are also some hills involved. Instead of going North on the South Platte trail, go south to Chatfield Res and turn back to the west. Take the C-470 trail Back to Bear Creek. The C-470 part will however be completely exposed to the sun, wind and there are of course the hills.
You best bet if starting from Bear Creek is to go as stated and ride to Confluence park and back. Pretty much flat all the way.

This is what I was going to recommend, but watch out for construction on the C470 segment. They had that going earlier in the summer, but I'm not sure if they'd be done yet or not.

I think all the 470 work is done. That ride to Confluence park is very nice as most of it is in the trees.

I like the Confluence park idea as well. You can take the Platte river trail to the clear creek trail which will take you all the way to 52nd and Sheridan approx. From here you can jump on the Ralston creek trail and either head to Arvada and the Westwoods golf course and beyond or into Golden. Golden being the more challenging of the two options.

All of northwest Boulder is now under possible evacuation orders. It's not just the mountains. If the winds shift tonight, the city is in danger.

I just did the South Platte to C470 to Red Rock a couple of weeks ago and all the construction was done. It is very exposed to the sun once you leave Chatfield Res.

Could also mix in Cherry Creek trail and a loop around Cherry Creek Reservoir.
I haven't seen any more construction going on in at least a couple of weeks on the C-470 trail on the west side. It looks like they're about ready to open up the extension on the northwest side of Green Mountain.
